Let there be hockey. The journey begins anew tonight.

Boston @ Montreal, 7:30. Goucher and Beers are the only local broadcast, but I'd imagine that there will be an online stream floating around somewhere. I'm not sure which group is traveling to Montreal.

Lot's of jobs up for grabs this year, particularly up front. I'm interested in seeing how Griffith looks with the big boys, if Gagne has something left in the tank, and if Spooner can force his hand and into a roster spot. Hopefully Pastrnak's shoulder injury doesn't derail his bid for an opening as well, I'd love to give him a look-see on the Krejci line at some point in the preseason.

PRESEASON GAMES ON THE AIRWAVES

NESN will televise two of the seven Bruins preseason games this year (9/30 vs. Islanders and 10/4 vs. Red Wings)
NHL Network will carry three games (9/26 at Washington, 9/30 vs. Islanders and 10/4 vs. Red Wings)

Dave Goucher and Bob Beers will call four games total beginning with the preseason opener at Montreal on 9/23 and the three home games at TD Garden (9/24, 9/30 and 10/4).

Indeed.  Last season ended with much rage and disgust.  Time to turn over the calendar and block it out like the 2007 NFL season THAT NEVER HAPPENED.  :smithicide:

From the 20ish minutes of play I watched last night, the Bruins forwards looked really crisp in their passing and positioning.  They didn't seem to be making any risky/challenged passes, but they were making good passes laterally and even backwards to even more open guys who could then make clear passes closer to the net or to players moving down the ice.  Spooner looked good, and hopefully he can earn a wing spot somewhere.

I streamed the end of the third period, but had trouble paying attention as they kept showing highlights from last year's playoffs series and I had to keep vomiting.

There were playoffs last year? I thought they were cancelled.

Or am I repressing memories?

When was that whole lockout thing? Happened at the end of the regular season last season right? Presidents Trophy! The Stanley Cup wasn't awarded.

At least thats how I remember it.

I'm going to throw shit if the B's do anything special to comemerate the Presidents cup win.  They should just silently add it to the banner and not say anything.

That's what I remember now that I think about it....  :barf:

Any stream for tonight? My brother and his daughter are taking our tickets, and he wants to know if there is a way his wife and other daughters can watch the game.

EDIT: Nevermind, bostonbruins.com is streaming it.

I live in Manchester, and it's saying I am out of market. Is being 45 minutes away not in Boston? Do I have to be in the city limits?

WTF?!
Thats really strange. You can get NESN locally, you should be in market. I'm in Pelham and streaming no problem.... This link was shared for out-of-market people though give it a shot:

Is this seriously fucking blacked out in Boston? This is real life?
What the hell is with this blackout garbage in the preseason? I couldn't get the game outside of the Boston market Wednesday, now Boston is blacked out tonight. Is the NHL adopting Cartman's You Can't Come amusement park strategy?

I'd almost rather be blacked out than have to listen to Craig Laughlin for the next couple hours.

also.... MATT FRASER!

Between here and everywhere.
Fraser wouldn't be a bad option for the top line. He's a pure shooter with a great shot. Krejci could probably set him up for 30 goals a year if all breaks right.

Can someone watching provide some sort of play by play?

Caps defenders turned it over in their own zone, puck stolen by Robins, who makes a nice move and gets the puck on net.  Lindblad pokes it past the goalie for a 4-2 lead.

Puck takes a lucky Washington bounce, catching Svedberg way out of position, Caps tap it in a basically empty net to cut the deficit to one.

Griffith and Florek have looked pretty good from what I've been watching, and McQuaid had a nice little beatdown of Oleksy.

B's wingers have been doing a pretty good job of getting in and helping on the face offs.

Caron has played like he wants a spot on the team.... playing physical, getting into good position, dare I say servicable?
