My team is so painfully ordinary.  7 guys played last week, 7 guys playing this week and all they do is make cuts and finish somewhere between 20-70th.  Had I taken just about anyone but Zach Johnson at the top, this could have been a good team, but alas, old Zach is the most overrated top 15 player in the world.

I am the opposite. Two guys who have been great and the rest complete and utter garbage. We should have combined forces.

This may be a dumb question but I don't see an answer anywhere. In the Pre Draft thread I found this.

IF WE GET THE SAME 22 PEOPLE:  First place will receive $300 while 2nd place will get their $100.00 back.

Since we went with 20 what is the payout? Does 1st get $200 and second get's the $100 back? Or is second SOL again this year?

Is it bad when the tournament only cuts 12 guys and you have three of them on your team?

So close to having a great week going.  I have a bunch of guys in contention,  but Billy Hurley III just sums up my team.   Playing great yeaterday, takes the birdie on 18 to get him to 7 under for the tourney (-4 for the day) and the lead, he then comes out and posts 43 on the front 9 to drop down to the 50s

They just showed a graphic showing the guys around No. 70 right now on the points list, after Streb made an eagle to get to 64th.  Streb is on my team.  The guy he moved out of the top 70, Jerry Kelly, is also on my team.  The guy currently in 70th, Matt Jones, is on my team, as is David Hearn, who is in 74th and Jason Bohn is in 65th.  Like I said, a picture of mediocrity.

Oh yeah, fuck you Zach Johnson.  You overrated piece of shit.

After careful consideration I have determined that I am not very good at this.

Almost unfathomably, there are people doing worse, but my delight is tempered by the fact that there are two weeks left in the season and I have one guy going.

Woah nice triple on 17 from Sergio to put Morgan Hoffman into 3rd instead of 4th. Moves him up from 68th to 22nd in fedex standings. My team has been just enough above average to be fun to watch. 3 going next week is real nice.

I had a similar problem but really anyone would. If you are judging the results of a draft based on your selection criteria, you will always be on top. That being said I put something together as well. I used a combination of the results from last year along with a fantasy ranking for this year. I was hoping this would show a blend of past results and future potential. I also tried to add commentary at the end but keep in mind I don't know shit.

[tablegrid= Vegas Sox Fan Power Rankings ]Rank Team Name 2013 Points Avg Ranking  2014 Projections Avg Ranking  Avg Ranking  Comments  1 Vegas Sox Fan 62.25  74.00  68.13  Sorry, I just really like my team. Good depth with a mix of high end talent and mediocre grinders.  2 Zomp 73.00  74.88  73.94  Really solid top 5. Beljan and Peterson might have been slight reaches but Barnes was good value.  3 TeddyKGB 88.75  68.88  78.81  Depends what you get from Sabbatini and McGirt but they could both end up being major steals.  4 WayBackVazquez 73.38  89.13  81.25  Nothing sexy here but decent to good selections all the way through. Teater is a great pick.  5 JohnMD20 79.88  83.38  81.63  Might have reached a bit on Jacobson but otherwise good value picks top to bottom.  6 The Four Peters 97.13  75.88  86.50  Top 5 are great and top 2 could be monsters. Bottom 3 are questionable. Matsuyama is the wild card.  7 DOTB 72.63  101.38  87.00  Johnson should beast but nothing else excites me about this team. Nothing wrong either.  8 Leon Trotsky 105.38  72.88  89.13  Good top four with nothing but question marks at the bottom. Na and Singh are a roll of the dice.  9 BostonBeerBelly 93.75  88.63  91.19  See above. Merrick should be a steal but I don't know who Tyrone is.  10 RandyWatson 100.88  84.50  92.69  Solid top 5 but all 3 at the bottom are lottery tickets. Duke was a good pick.  11 Average Reds 104.88  80.75  92.81  Anything could happen but relying on Watney and Watson scares me. Rollins was a great value pick.  12 Flawless 116.88  69.38  93.13  Top 3 are good and Henry could be the steal of the draft but everyone else was a reach.  13 AirborneSas 94.88  94.63  94.75  Phil will be Phil but not much to say about the bottom half.  14 Big Mike 83.75  107.50  95.63  Actually good picks here. Just not sure about Aphibarnrat. This ranking is probably too low.  15 BMHH 112.50  81.13  96.81  I know Tiger is here but man, everything else is some level of a mess.  16 Dan1864 119.00  77.13  98.06  There's potential here but these guys were pretty bad last year. Particulary Knox and Oosty.  17 Cshea 115.00  104.25  109.63  There's talent here, I just don't know how much they will play. Holmes and Uihlein are questionable.  18 DaveStapleton 147.50  74.50  111.00  There are so many things that could go badly here. I don't feel good about DJ and Piercy.  19 Ezemerson 134.13  102.88  118.50  I mean, go Bulldogs I guess.  20 Lupe Walewatch 139.25  98.75  119.00  Just way too many question marks at the bottom. Speith could carry this team though.  [/tablegrid]
We may not play every week, but when we do we win!

Another fun season. Thanks for the work with the spreadsheets and weekly power rankings, it was fun to keep track of. Looking forward to next year. Can I keep Rory?

Thanks very much for doing the work VSF. I think it's fair to offer you a free entry into the pool next year for the hard work. Out of my pocket, of course, not the pool's. You really do a good job and it's solid of you.

Thirded - This is probably my favorite fantasy event I participate in. I think I would have had a shot at the title if all tournaments were 3 days long.  Jim Furyk had one hell of a year on the big stage (4 majors, 4 playoff events, 3 WG events, and the 5th major the players) to come up with zero wins.

VSF makes this so easy and keeps up with the results so fast, would gladly pay my share of his entry for next year for the time he puts into keeping track of it all.

Awesome gesture JohnMD20.  VSF, just to echo everyone thanks again.  I'll have payout info in the next few weeks.

This is honestly something I'm very proud of.  I love that it took off and can't wait to do it again next year.

Am I the only person that has never had a win?  Pretty embarrassing from the founder.

In my other league I was top of hill.  1st place. Of course that is a 14 team league and I had Rory and Fowler...

I started a fantasy football league 4 years ago with college friends. I have never made the playoffs. Except for a small chance last year, I've never been close. It's a common mocking point among my friends. I founded the league and I can't get it done. I relate to the pain of that.

This pool is really tough. I have no idea what I'm doing. But it is a heck of a lot of fun. It's an honor to be involved.

Agreed, incredible gesture everyone but totally not necessary. I enjoy it as much as everyone else and I'm proud to be a part of it. I do get mocked often for being in a fantasy golf league though. This may be the first sign that you have a fantasy sports problem.

Notwithstanding the complete implosion of my team (FU Nick Watney) this is a lot of fun and I am up for next year as well.

And JohnMD, I'll join you in picking up VSF's entry fee.

Greatly enjoyed this again and look forward to next year! Any thoughts about starting it earlier in year? Low stakes gambling make everything more enjoyable, especially golf!

Congrats to Cshea and thanks a ton to Zomp and VSF!

I'm on board with chipping in for VSF's fee as well.  Very cool to take time to do all of this.

As someone who has north of 30 fantasy teams in various sports throughout the year, I'll also add that this is one of my favorite.  Really well run, easy to follow, and while my teams consistently suck and I hate my players, it's just a fun thing to follow each week.  The long season makes it even better, with so many events.  Look forward to doing it again next year.
