The power rankings from last year were not so hot in the power department. Lets see how they shape up this year.

I like that my team has 7 guys going this week and next week. I don't think I had 7 go once last year.

I am excited to be playing again and to not have Anthony Kim on my roster.

Edit:  Plus Bubba Watson is tied for the lead this week.  I know it doesn't count, but .....

As I'm typing this, my guys are currently 1st, T3rd, T10th, T40th, T52nd, and T52nd.  Zach Johnson isn't even playing.  My God, I can't wait for this thing to start.  I'm 90% sure I didn't have a single week last week with more than 4 guys making the cut, if the number was even that high.

I'm pretty sure I'd be winning if this week counted.  I have 1st, 2nd, 11th, 40th, 54th, and 54th right now.

It would be awesome if we awarded points based on where the players were at the beginning of the second round...

I'm actually not going to do write-ups this year. I've gone back and forth on whether or not to actually post these rankings - I've tried to be objective as possible by using a combination of fantasy rankings, official world golf rankings and FedEx rankings. My team keeps coming up on top and I don't feel comfortable with it. So I'm posting the work I've done so far.

The reason my team keeps coming on top is because I'm one of two teams with 2 guys in the top 15 in the OWGR, 6 of 8 in the top 125 and nobody outside of the top 200. Everyone grades out pretty evenly when it comes to the fantasy rankings (no surprise here, we were all using similar lists). So the world rankings and FedEx rankings weighted more heavily (with the exception of Ezemerson who had 7 guys in the top 100 of the FedEx, but rated very poorly in the Fantasy rankings and the OWGR rankings).

In the list I have put the Fantasy ranking, the OWGR ranking and # of guys in the top-100 of the FedEx cup. I used the FedEx because it gives a good barometer of which teams are starting the year off well and which are not.

If nothing else, you all can see how you compare to each other with each of the 3 categories.

I had a similar problem but really anyone would. If you are judging the results of a draft based on your selection criteria, you will always be on top. That being said I put something together as well. I used a combination of the results from last year along with a fantasy ranking for this year. I was hoping this would show a blend of past results and future potential. I also tried to add commentary at the end but keep in mind I don't know shit.

[tablegrid= Vegas Sox Fan Power Rankings ]Rank Team Name 2013 Points Avg Ranking  2014 Projections Avg Ranking  Avg Ranking  Comments  1 Vegas Sox Fan 62.25  74.00  68.13  Sorry, I just really like my team. Good depth with a mix of high end talent and mediocre grinders.  2 Zomp 73.00  74.88  73.94  Really solid top 5. Beljan and Peterson might have been slight reaches but Barnes was good value.  3 TeddyKGB 88.75  68.88  78.81  Depends what you get from Sabbatini and McGirt but they could both end up being major steals.  4 WayBackVazquez 73.38  89.13  81.25  Nothing sexy here but decent to good selections all the way through. Teater is a great pick.  5 JohnMD20 79.88  83.38  81.63  Might have reached a bit on Jacobson but otherwise good value picks top to bottom.  6 The Four Peters 97.13  75.88  86.50  Top 5 are great and top 2 could be monsters. Bottom 3 are questionable. Matsuyama is the wild card.  7 DOTB 72.63  101.38  87.00  Johnson should beast but nothing else excites me about this team. Nothing wrong either.  8 Leon Trotsky 105.38  72.88  89.13  Good top four with nothing but question marks at the bottom. Na and Singh are a roll of the dice.  9 BostonBeerBelly 93.75  88.63  91.19  See above. Merrick should be a steal but I don't know who Tyrone is.  10 RandyWatson 100.88  84.50  92.69  Solid top 5 but all 3 at the bottom are lottery tickets. Duke was a good pick.  11 Average Reds 104.88  80.75  92.81  Anything could happen but relying on Watney and Watson scares me. Rollins was a great value pick.  12 Flawless 116.88  69.38  93.13  Top 3 are good and Henry could be the steal of the draft but everyone else was a reach.  13 AirborneSas 94.88  94.63  94.75  Phil will be Phil but not much to say about the bottom half.  14 Big Mike 83.75  107.50  95.63  Actually good picks here. Just not sure about Aphibarnrat. This ranking is probably too low.  15 BMHH 112.50  81.13  96.81  I know Tiger is here but man, everything else is some level of a mess.  16 Dan1864 119.00  77.13  98.06  There's potential here but these guys were pretty bad last year. Particulary Knox and Oosty.  17 Cshea 115.00  104.25  109.63  There's talent here, I just don't know how much they will play. Holmes and Uihlein are questionable.  18 DaveStapleton 147.50  74.50  111.00  There are so many things that could go badly here. I don't feel good about DJ and Piercy.  19 Ezemerson 134.13  102.88  118.50  I mean, go Bulldogs… I guess.  20 Lupe Walewatch 139.25  98.75  119.00  Just way too many question marks at the bottom. Speith could carry this team though.  [/tablegrid]

I'm actually much happier with my team this year. Last season I had Justin Rose and 7 guys who had no prayer of winning until Spieth joined up with his monster second half. This year I feel like I have a few guys who, when they play, could win any tournament. I realize with my draft this year, I likely punted any chance at the year-long title. I was mostly swinging for the fences in majors, and I think I did a decent job of building a high ceiling team.

I've also got Rory. His last 2 events: 1, T2. He shot a 63 on Thursday and has a 1-shot lead in Dubai after 36 holes. He is scheduled for the 2 WGC's, the Honda and the Shell Houston in advance of Augusta. Let's get it started.

I have a feeling that my team is going to be very middle of the road this year, a lot of missed cuts with a few top 25's per tournament turning out a steady 6-10 points per tournament without winning many overall weeks.

I think you all are underestimating Van Aswegen.

Lucas Glover follows up his opening round 79 with a 66.  Season hasn't even started and I hate him.  And Keegan Bradley is on his way to reversing those numbers.

That may be, but I at least hope to win a week or two this year. Going for the weekly payoffs, not the overall title.

I have no idea what the fantasy rank refers to, and I can assure you I wasn't using a similar list to anyone. WGR is extremely far down the list of predictive factors for our scoring system. My picks were based on a mix of qualitative (performance results, both scoring and tournament placement) and quantitative (expected scoring events played) factors. I guess Henrik Stenson, as #3 in the world and the FedEX Cup champion, was my best pick according to Flawless. He's probably my 5th best pick by round chosen in my eyes.

I'll happily bet my team against Flawless's.

I appreciate your charity, though. If anyone else would like to bet their money against my welfare check on your team, they can do so.
