I'm not saying that he's going to win, but I expect him to be in it until his putter disappears on Sunday.

As do I, he is having a fantastic year - top 15 in all majors so far this year, hasn't missed a cut ,13/16 in the top 25 and 3 runner up finishes. But not a chance he wins this week.

Tiger's swing looks completely different than it was 2 hours ago. He's smooth and relaxed and not swinging too hard. Hopefully he remembers this down the road.

With Michelson and Furyk not far behind.  Should be an interesting weekend.

I will reiterate, I HOPE SO. I tend to shift my weekends around during the golf majors so I can watch all the coverage on the weekend's. But that has been a waste this year. The US Open was truly the worst open in the history of the tournament.(no hyperbole there because Tiger and Rory's huge wins were with Tiger and Rory, who at least are dynamic) Kaymer's win was nearly complete by noon on Friday. That has to be a record.

I am desperately hoping for a back and forth rush to the end, with Fowler winning, of course.

Any news about delays on the broadcast?  I'm at my office doing some things but want to try and be home before the leaders tee off at 3.

6 eagles so far today at the par 4 4th, playing at 292 yards.  Westwood will probably be the 7th as he just stuck one to 2 feet.  I imagine some guys, like Rory, may not even need driver to get home there today.

Day starts out with two wayward drives.  He gets a lucky bounce off a tree and pars the first.  2 will be considerably more challenging.

His caddie has to go for a swim.

If he didn't catch that club toss, would that have been a penalty for grounding his club in a hazard?  I always thought you couldn't let your club touch the ground at all in a hazard, even in a situation like that.

I can't imagine they would give him a penalty for that. But with the randomness of golf rules, I wouldn't bet on it.

It's not whether or not they would give him a penalty, it's just a matter of whether or not it is a penalty.  He's supposed to penalize himself.  I was always under the impression you couldn't ground any club at any time in a hazard.  For example, when I take a couple clubs with me into a bunker, I always make sure to keep them off the ground at all times, and when I decide which one to use, I toss the other club far enough away that it lands outside the hazard.  I could be totally wrong though.  When I saw his caddy toss the club to him like that, I was really worried he'd drop it.  My OCD was like "Nooooooooooooo."

Awesome, thanks Freddy.

Rory in trouble, but should be able to make 4 there if he has any way to get a club on it.  Day with a good look at eagle.  I believe they both hit 3 woods off the tee.

I could be making this up, but I seem to remember that you can touch the ground in a hazard to keep yourself from falling down.  If I'm not making this up, then there are exceptions.  But again, I have a vivid imagination.

EDIT--or what Freddy said

Did they just say that Mickelsons group played through Strickers? I don't think I've ever heard of that on Tour. Why?

And Phil putting for Eagle that would put him one back.

They did say that. Not sure what happened.

If Furyk or Stricker are picked for the Ryder cup, I'm going to commit seppuku. Pick some young guys and roll the dice. These olds guys can't handle it.

Fowler has had so many birdie chances that have just missed. He is really crushing it tee to green.
The positive spin is that he hasn't had a lot of high stress pars.  He keeps giving himself these chances and he'll win this thing.

EDIT--although he really needed to take advantage of that one

Oh yes, I agree but he's got a drop a couple. He's leaving a few out there. But he's in contention and playing pretty damn well, so you have to like his chances.
