One more pick until the B's are on the clock. I love the idea of more speed on this team, so Kempe is appealing on paper.

McKenzie's best available:

#16 - Jared McCann (C, Sault Ste. Marie, OHL):

Centres who play every situation in the game, are involved in all areas on the ice and contribute with and without the puck are in high demand. The cliche, '200-foot player' applies to Jared. His versatility and sense is excellent.

#21 - Nikita Scherbak (LW, Saskatoon, WHL):

Excellent scoring instincts and he arrives at the right times to take full advantage. Awareness of how to exploit opportunities is very good and is vigilant and alert in this regard. A versatile player who can play off strengths of others.

Using "it is what it is" when asked how you feel about going to Team X? Tremendous, especially when Team X is Vancouver.

I am getting really annoyed at that frog protection comercial that has been shown like 15 times today

Showing it before Montreal's pick seemed appropriate.

The rest of the draft is on NHL Network.

But yeah, that's a bush league move to abruptly halt coverage without providing viewers any advance notice of where to tune in.

Meanwhile, Maine alum Garth Snow dropped an S-bomb during an interview. When they asked him about the scrutiny #1 pick Josh Ho-Sang will face:

"He'll fit right in. They shit on me, too."

No bleeps. No apologies. The way it should be.

Leafs made a dumb trade. Carl Gunnarsson and #94 to St. Louis for Roman Polak.

Calgary picks up Brandon Bollig for a 3rd rounder. Truculence, baby!

Possibly the highlight of Garth's career as GM. He deserves to crow a bit, he had a very good night.

Not sure if it's ever happened before, but a pair of US high school teammates were chosen in consecutive picks. The Rangers took D Tyler Nanne at 143, and Florida followed by with LW Miguel Fidler at 144. Both from Edina (MN) HS. Plus a kid from their archrival (Eden Prairie HS) was taken at 142 by the Blackhawks in D Luc Snuggerud.

29 years ago Plymouth State's Joe Dudek was on the cover of SI along with Bo Jackson.

Now his kid's been picked in the 6th round of the NHL Draft by the Devils. He's a BC commit who's playing under ex-Maine coach Tim Whitehead at Kimball-Union Academy in Meriden NH.

More on Joey Dudek here.

Boston's 7th-round pick (#206 overall) is Emil Johansson from Sweden (HV 71 JR). A 5-11, 194-lb defenseman with a lefty shot.
