The basketball hall of fame is obsessed with college coaches. Managing 18-22 year old men over the perils of a 35 game season is apparently the highest form of basketball coaching.

The basketball hall of fame is the most over-compensated place, and every year they have to induct 5-10 people no matter what. 
 
Also, I was at the HOF over the summer and noticed on Sam Jones' placque it said he was inducted as a coach. AS A COACH AND NOT A PLAYER. How can something like that happen at the HOF? That place is a joke.

I don't think this is the wording on the plaque, but on the Naismith HoF website, it mentions nothing about him coaching. I'm confused by your assertion.

On every placque, it has their name and what they were in for, for example Bill Russell-Player or Red Auerbach-Coach. On his, it says Sam Jones-Coach. IIRC, the placque doesn't say anything about him coaching, it just says that he was inducted as a coach. It is probably just a typing error, but I was pointing it out as a sign of the HoFs ineptitude that they can't even get a guys placque straight.

The HOF is making up for past oversights. I think they forgot to send him condolence cards after his daughter & son died 25 years apart.

I was surprised at the inclusion of both coaches, but when you look at Nolan Richardson's record versus other HoF college coaches, it stacks up quite nicely actually.

There are of course the obvious ones like Roy Williams, Jim calhoun, Coach K, etc.

If anything, Gary Williams is the huge stretch as a Hall of Famer of anybody on that list.
