Welp, at least my pick 4 is still alive.  I have the 4, 7, 12 in the 12th, and the 4,8, 10 in the 13th.

Bad, really bad ride. Had a chance to get right to the lead and dictate the pace, instead got put in behind horses and then wide the last half.

It wouldn't have mattered. Chrome was losing on the straightaway regardless.

Yeah but he didn't bitch about it before the race. That colorblind jackass only bitched after he lost

I'm not a horse racing historian, but if the rules were the same in the 70's, why change them? You don't want to create triple crown winners by thinning out the field...

Maybe a horse racing expert can answer that though. Have the standards for entry been the same for a long time now?

Woah he just told his wife off too.
LOL that was great. She pinched him in the back to get him to stop and he whacked her arm away and yelled at her.

yes, he's fucking wrong and should shut up. It's supposed to be tough. New horses come in, the schedule's the same, anything else cheapens it.

If I'm not mistaken, the rules haven't changed, but the way the owners work the races has.  Back in the 70's, I'm pretty sure you generally had the same field run all three races.  This practice of running rested horses in the Belmont, and the Preakness, is a relatively new one, I think.

I know next to nothing about horses, but it seems like there are stamina issues even with all the time off in between?

Isn't the best thing for the sport what's been happening: every couple years you have a triple crown candidate...and it's really really hard to close the deal. It's the ultimate intrigue. I don't think more triple crowns is definitively better for the sport

Coastal came from the Peter Pan to beat Spectacular Bid, same as Tonalist did today.

To be fair to him, this did not happen. She told him to stop and he just turned around and said he didn't care. He didn't whack her arm away or even yell any more than he was yelling to the reporter.

I don't think the horse had it today. Just no extra spark to take it at the end.
