Watching this it's still unbelievable to me Robin Soderling beat Nadal on Chatrier. Nadal is the perfect combo of brute force and magician out there...
I bet when it's all said and done he'd want that loss back over any major final he lost.

Without a doubt...I was actually in the stadium for that one and it was probably the most surreal event Ive been to live. If he had won that match he is probably looking at a 10th straight title today.

You might enjoy this article about the one loss Martina Navratilova had in 1983.

Finished watching the match on DVR last evening and man, I thought Nadal's back acting up was close to a death spell for him - Novak looked rejuvenated out there and like he had a prayer.  When he tied the 4th at 4-4, I figured it would be a tiebreak at best for Nadal.  Incredible effort from both of them.  I'm reminded of my friend who runs professionally, who says "if when you cross the finish line, you don't feel like you're about to throw up, you probably didn't push yourself hard enough."  Those two gave everything they had.

Wasn't as pretty as Wimbledon 2008, but you could see the mental game both of them were playing with each other, and I thought that was pretty fascinating to read into.  McEnroe really helped with the commentary, I think, as he pointed out certain tactics that were working or opportunities he saw in the way each of them were playing.

Let's see how Nadal's back holds up in a couple of weeks at Wimbledon. He may have spent alot to win this tournament. Wouldn't surprise me if he was upset at the All England Club possibly before quarters.

In the last two years, Nadal has lost in the 2nd and 1st rounds at Wimbledon.
