And Joel Corry, who is a former agent who works for CBS now, had an interesting note on the terrible RB market. More than half of the $4 million Darren McFadden got from the Raiders is in incentives that aren't likely to be earned. So basically a one-year deal for $1.75 million.

I thought this was interesting for a couple reasons.  First, teams across the NFL have seemingly wised up to the fungibility of RBs.  Second, this is good news in terms of Blount potentially coming back at a reasonable price.

Demarcus Ware would be absolutely perfect. I'd need to consult a physician if they signed him.

This would be a fantastic signing, IMO. The Pats have seriously lacked a LB who can cover and this kid is pretty good. He's like an over-sized SS.

What kind of deal do you think he'll sign?

4 years, 16 million (8 million guaranteed)

Less money for Talib.

Julius Peppers finally released by Bears.

Pats also contact Andrew Hawkins (would be a good Edelman backup plan).

Revis & Talib? How about Ware & Peppers?

Ware would be insane... I wouldn't mind seeing Peppers too.

As far as WW, I'm not sure maybe something like 3 yrs 2-3 mil per with a little over a year guaranteed. Too low?

I'd rather they stay clear of the over 30 club on all FA signings.  They have not worked out at all recently (Adrian Wilson, Robert Gallery, Leon Washington, Ochocinco, Haynesworth) these are players that get paid because of the name on the back of the jersey not because of what they can be expected to do moving forward.  Paying for past performance is a death knell in FA.  I realize some of those were lower cost trades but the point stays the same, the NFL is a young mans game except for QB.  I wouldn't want to sign anyone over 30.  Hell you could make the case that 28 is really the new 30 in the NFL and I wouldn't argue.

I can see that. Most of the guys being let go are too expensive, not because they've fallen off a cliff though. Peppers on a 1 or 2 year deal would be great to have across from Jones. He's old but he's a freak. He might come cheap to be a part of a contender.

John Clayton on ESPN radio -- says Peppers' contract value should be around $4m a year, given his age & last year's performance.

That's less than what BB shelled out to Shaun Ellis.

Those guys were all shit by the time the Pats got them. They didn't fall off a cliff. That's not the case with Peppers, Allen and Ware.

Clayton also says 49ers just resigned Eric Wright and does not expect a lot of big moves.

Also says Patriots SHOULD GO FOR REVIS -- also Hakeem Nicks at a 1 year, 4-5m year deal to re-establish himself with Brady throwing him the ball.

So after it was announced that the Saints would cut Sproles, reportedly they will be able to trade him.

@AdamSchefter: Saints still haven’t released RB Darren Sproles and now plan to trade him due to heavy interest,

I don't even get how Ware was cut.

Because.....Jerry Jones? It's a head scratcher for sure.

I'm curious as to how this WR market is developing.  Starting to wonder if the Pats go after one of these guys if the market stays supressed.  Decker, Jones, Nicks would look good if they are indeed moving on from Edelman

Don't forget Sanders. Could be the best fit, even in addition to Nicks.

Why, IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY,  are the Cowboys paying Kyle Orton $4.3M and how is it possible that cutting him only gives them ~$1M in cap relief?

Cap may be crap but lucky sperm club FTW.

Verner's contract is 4 years, 26 million. Pretty cheap. Maybe the market's come down a bit, or maybe teams really saw him as more of a zone corner like I've heard.

Denver was also reportedly in on Allen as well.  They can't get both, could they?  Would they, even if they could?

Bill sitting on his ass like usual waiting to go shopping at Building 19 while his direct competition is already making hay with TJ Ward and now potentially DeMarcus Ware. I'm really sick of never getting any legit free agents.

There might be a lot of stupid money being splashed around but I see at least a few deals that look like bargains.

Alterraun Verner for 4/26.5
Linval Joseph for 5/31.5
Darren McFadden for an incentive-laden 1/4
TJ Ward for 4/23

Do you get sick of winning 12+ games every year, having one of the most exciting teams in the league every year, and making at least the AFCCG just about every year?

I want a Super Bowl. Brady isn't going to play forever. It is time to go all in and win that 4th Super Bowl.

I agree.  But you realize that in two of the three SB victories, they came within a whisker of losing them, and in their most recent two SB losses they came within a whisker of winning them, right?

And they do this despite throwing money away at free agents time after time. If Ware signs for 4-5 million, I'm going to be really pissed.

What's the common thread in those losses? No pass rush. You think Ware would help?
