Yes, I'm afraid Donald will be gone: bench press 35 reps (Clowney 21) 10 yd initial burst 1.59 (Clowney 1.56) but outweighs him by 20 lbs--really similarly freakish numbers.

I can't imagine Donald is available to the Pats, even for a half round trade up. His comp I've heard is Geno Atkins, and everyone would go top 5 on Geno Atkins now.

Incredible how deep this WR class is. If patriots could get a guy like Brandin Cooks WR Oregon State in second round would be a real nice replacement for Julian Edelman. Very quick twitched athlete who could help in special teams and explodes in the slot. He just ran two unofficial 4.30.
Being a NW homer, this would tickle me pink.  That guy can really play.

I'm not sure the fit would be there anyway with Donald. He was impressive and he'll help whoever takes him, but he's only 285 lbs, and has short arms, and from what I've read, he's maxed out for his build. He profiles more as a Warren Sapp 1 gap pass rushing DT than as a 2-gap run stuffer, either NT or DE. Even if the Pats play more 4 front, they still like earthmovers or long armed 2 gap guys in the middle.

He can probably play anywhere on the line in a 4-3 1-gap system.

I think you're right about type, but Belichick isn't entirely averse to drafting Sapp types. Donald's size is a definite minus, but he had great production in college and followed that up with a dominant Senior Bowl (both the game and all week in practice) and a brilliant combine. I don't think he'll be around for the Pats, but I think there's a good chance they'd take him if he was.

Is it me or has the "Freak athletes/Workout Warriors" become the DEs CBs and WRs.  Where in the past it was the LBs and RBs.

10 years ago we would ohh and ahh about the 6'4 250 LB who ran a 4.58 40.  Now Clowney is doing that while the "Fast LBers" are 230ish.

Stanley Jean-Baptiste, a mascho binkie, up now at the Combine.

6' 2" 5/8 218

Bit on the slow side with an unofficial 4.53.  But he's only got 18 games at CB.  Recruited as a WR to Nebraska.  I've been watching him for a long time now.

Stanley Jean-Baptist with a pick six and the Huskers are up 7-0 early.

Based on their first game and tonight's performance so far, SJB is playing himself into a first round pick. Might be a nice replacement for Talib should Talib walk, and it would be nice having two former teammates in Dennard and SJB in the Pats secondary.

Stanley Jean-Baptist with another pick that leads to six for Nebraska.

Draft him Belichick.

So he probably isn't a first round pick, but I still love him.

Keith McGill.  6' 3 and 3/8" CB from Utah.  211 lbs.

Unofficial 4.46 40.  That's a big boy who can move.

I think they are all freaks.  When you have OTs who are running 4.8 40s (unofficially) you've crossed over into crazy-town.

I love me some McGill - his size and speed at CB make me think that even if his film is a 3rd to 4th round grade I'd grab him as early as back of the 2nd round. He's just that tantalizing.

Mayock apparently mentioned his game tape against UCLA, so I know what I'm searching for over lunch....

My boy SJB with a 41.5" vertical.  Just under 6' 3" and can jump out of the stadium.  Holy Schniekey.

NFL.com updated their 40 times and SJB ran 4.43.  McGill ran 4.40.

Guaranteed that if the Pats take him we get a "I can't believe someone named Stanley Jean-Baptiste is white, he's the new captain of the Reggie Cleveland All Stars" tweet from Simmons.

That said, LOVE the size.

With those measurables SJB is easily a second round pick.

His 40 time now reads 4.61.  We'll see what he does at his pro day, but I'm thinking maybe late second, more likely a third rounder.

Yeah, that 4.6 makes a big difference.

Mayock ranks Clowney among 4 prospects, none of whom are QBs, head and shoulders above everyone else in this draft class. So much for Mike's Clowney hate. Too many tweeters; too much time to fill

Dammit. Clearly, I meant to say that he'd say "I can't believe someone named Stanley Jean-Baptiste is black..."
