Cano grounds out in first AB. He looks good in a Seatlle uni. Gonna miss him in pinstripes, especially when Brian Roberts comes to the plate.

Yeah, he is amazing. The young Mantle had lot of talent, similar package to Trout. All five tools. But Trout got great faster than Mick, who was better at age 19 but not 20. Trout is on a faster track than Junior Griffey, who really hit his stride at age 22.

Mantle really kicked in at age 23 in 1955 and then he had his career year in 1956, Triple Crown year. Makes you wonder what Trout's ceiling is. Maybe something similar to Mantle in 1956.

I think the Yankee fan was just making a point about players going where the money is. No irony intended.

If he really wanted to taunt Cano, he would put up a photo of all the empty bases Cano is going to hit with. He leads off the fourth in a few minutes. Had nobody on in the first after leadoff hitter got caught stealing.

Pujols doubles. Seems to be running better this year. Angels might be hard to deal with if Albert and Hamilton start doing some damage.

That would be my early call. Them and Oakland.

Graphic just showed Weaver's fastball averaged 86.5 mph in 2013, second slowest among MLB starting pitchers. He beat CC to the junkyard. Felix has lost 3 mph in 4 years. Everyone isles velo at some point.

Felix has settled in. Just K'd Trout on a breaking ball. 9- pitch AB. Then he fans Albert. 9 Ks in 5 innings.

5 Ks in last 2 innings.

Seattle's new CF, Abe Almonte, came over from NYY in the Shawn Kelley deal last year. Almonte just doubled in the lead run as Seattle has gone ahead 4-3 in the 7th. Key hit in the inning was a deep fly to left that Josh Hamilton didn't seem too interested in chasing down near the fence.
Cano just came up with a runner on second and two outs. Intentional walk. He may lead the league in that category.

I think Oakland will be better. The Angels' pitching doesn't impress me, especially with Weaver losing so much velocity. He's been successful without a big fastball, but there's a point where even a finesse guy can't get it done. He's practically a right-handed Jamie Moyer at this point. Grabbing Santiago and Skaggs in that trade might be enough to save their rotation though. Certainly before that, their rotation was ridiculously thin.

It looks like a knee injury.

So apparently Baylor broke his femur.

How the hell does that happen while a guy is kneeling at the plate and reaches for a pitch? Bone cancer immediately leaps to mind, like Dravecky when his arm snapped throwing a pitch. Otherwise...advanced osteoporosis? Hopefully not cancer at any rate.

Somehow the A's managed to squander the bottom of the 8th inning despite Donaldson hitting a ball off the CF fence with 2 runners on base. Daric Barton made a Daniel Nava-esque base running blunder at 2nd, going back to tag with 0 outs instead of being halfway and prepared to score.

I love Skaggs and Santiago. The Angels rotation goes five deep. No other rotation in the West does that. And they are the healthiest team so far. So they are my pick.

Nit picking here, but there was actually 1 out...which makes the decision much, much dumber in my opinion.

edit -  it was one of the worst base running decisions I have ever seen.  I have never seen a 400 foot shot off the wall not score a guy from second base before.

You left out the part about him flipping the bat, watching it go out and then proceeding to Cadillac his way around the bases.

He is throwing a ton of changeups; they do not seem to be helping much.

I like this kid Altuve.  Man he has got some speed.  Looked good on the over the shoulder catch earlier too.

Video of Puig's HR.

He let the bat go and ran around the bases. He didn't stand and admire it.

Besides, when you hit a ball from San Diego to Alaska you should be allowed to watch it fly.

Edited to point out Vinny saying "Eon Kennedy."

“@AndrewGruman: A fan just ran on the field, touched Ryan Braun and got a high five from Carlos Gomez before getting tackled by security.”

I'm skeptical that they've got enough pitching.
As soon as people remember that you don't have to ever throw a strike to Josh Hamilton and that the pitches should all be in the dirt outside, he'll go back to doing nothing.  Can Trout and Albert carry a shitty pitching staff to the playoffs?  I'm very skeptical.

And the yankee announcers are shells of their former selves.
My god.  Ken Singleton was gushing with praise for Jeter making a play on a two hop grounder about 3 feet from him.  He and Kay are totally over the top in the Jeter worship.  If they do this all season long even yankee fans will get sick of it.

Jesus, watch Kelly Johnson, the yankees' third baseman.   He's like an overcompetitive husband in a mixed doubles tennis match poaching every shot from his wife.  He just ran right in front of Jeter to try and get a ball and deflected it away.

To be fair, I think assuming that Jeter won't get to the ball is a key part of playing 3B for the Yankees.

Yunel Escobar strikes out looking to end the game with the tying runs in scoring position. Ouch.

Smoak with a 3-run double. Mariners lead 4-0. Ms announcers crediting Cano for Smoak's hot start, 6 RBIs in 2 games.

Maybe they'll stop walking Cano if Smoak keeps burning them.
