Let's start it all off with a Yasiel Puig story:

So before the latest controversy with Puig had a chance to mushroom, manager Don Mattingly called a team meeting Tuesday to clear the air, sources with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.com.

A source described Puig as "very open" during the meeting and receptive to what was said.

The latest issue with Puig came in the Dodgers' two-game opening series in Australia, where Puig had two baserunning blunders in Sunday's 7-5 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, then left the game in the bottom of the ninth inning after striking out in the top of the frame.

Before that game, Mattingly had said Puig "grabs something every time he takes a swing and misses."

When asked afterward why Puig departed, an apparently frustrated Mattingly said, "I guess his back. Shoulder yesterday, back today. So I'm not sure if they're going to get tests on him or get him to the MRI Monday or a bone scan on Tuesday, maybe. I'm not quite sure what we'll do. We may not do anything. I'm not sure."

Kind of a weird comparison, but Puig kind of reminds me of Olajuwon when he was young. Here was a guy that came from a different country and prospered due to their immense physical talents, and everyone knew that they were going to be studs. However, they were slow to adjust to the lifestyle of being a professional athlete in America, and ran roughshod over teammates and management. Olajuwon eventually turned into a leader and an elder statesmen of sorts, so their is still a ton of hope for Puig.

If Hanley caught that clean, runner was out at second.

Puig likely thinking, "See what happens when I hit the cut-off man?"

This broadcast team isn't bugging me too much. Kruk is an easier listen than Joe Morgan even if Morgan was a much better player and may have known more.

The camo unis bother me, too. I really love this country but I'm not crazy about the injection of super-patriotism into sporting events.

This game is pretty much fun so far. It's baseball!

Crawford Ks again, swinging about at the time the ball pops into the catcher's mitt.

It feels like neither team will ever score a run.

I honestly wouldn't mind extra innings tonight though.

Any mention of Schilling tonight? I did see somewhere yesterday that the head of ESPN said as soon as he's ready, he's on.
In BBTN, they said he's feeling positive and they expect to see him during the season. For what that's worth.

Really sorry to see Crawford get the RBI. I quite irrationally dislike the guy, first for driving Varitek crazy, and second, for stinking up the joint in Boston.

Why do I feel like Crawford never, ever inside-outed a ball like that when he was with us? I'm sure he must have.

Too busy swinging at inside sliders in the dirt or FB's at his eyeballs.  Of course, he was never healthy in Boston, first the wrist then the elbow

I don't really recall him ever doing much of anything besides roll over grounders to second or try to tomahawk the ball out of RF and flying out since he didn't have the power to get it out of RF at Fenway.

The Padres have to still be kicking themselves about that 1-2-3 double play. Ryu has been cruising since then.

I wonder if Brian Wilson will throw his knuckleball. I saw him throw a few in a ST game the other day. Apparently it's his new toy. I'd guess he won't fuck around with it in a tie game though.

edit: Where did that 2-2 pitch miss?

I'm with you. I had to essentially be restrained in the games we don't speak of in 2011 so I wouldn't hope the fence and yell in how face.

I agree with the Padres - I think they have a legit shot at the division.

The Dodger covering themselves in..... well, definitely something other than glory in this inning.

It is unbelievable how much I missed real baseball.

This had been a gloriously awful half inning.
Wilson never had any command, Mattingly watches blankly.

In the world of relevant stats, where would you guys place the on about Wilson that ESPN just ran on the ticker: "Brian Wilson allows 3 ER. He allowed 3 ER the last 2 seasons combined (15 1/3 IP)" ?

Padres' camo unis seriously annoy me. Why do I hate America?

They're ugly enough as some kind of July 4th alt-jersey, but what the fuck is with them wearing it on their season opener? Does San Diego have some sort of super military connection I don't know about? They wear this things more than anyone else.

Right up there with ESPN talking about how the Dodgers could be the first team to ever start 3-0 before anyone else has a win. (While being the first to ever have the schedule allow that.)

They wear them for every Sunday home game. Like the Red Sox did/do (are they still doing that this year?) with the red jerseys.
