I know he probably meant it as a joke, but I've seen that be said countless times as fact by europeans who haven't ever watched a single game of our championship. Gets tiring after a while. But you're probably right that it was an overreaction.

Was he this despicable at Atletico Madrid?  I remember him being more likeable then.
He was still a punk, just seemed less so because he was going against Real and Barca.

Not over yet, though.

Away goal rule in extra time of game 2 of the tie is kind of bullshit, but I guess beats the snot out of penalties.

How does that happen?  Fabregas and Matic unable to control the midfield against 10 men for 90 minutes and PSG scoring two goals without their best player on 10 men.

That's some horrible shit.

Cesc brought his big game form to Chelsea from Barcelona.  The guy has been garbage against top competition for a while now.  He shines against the Crystal Palaces of the world.

I have great respect for PSG after that match. The red on Zlatan was so awful that it no doubt lit a fire under them. They were the better side for most of the match.

That was an absolute gutless display from Chelsea.  They had a week to prep for that game.

Atrocious doesn't begin to describe that performance.

As good as he was in the first half of the Premier League season, Fabregas was pretty much dogshit in this tie.

I blame Mourinho's tactics though.  He didn't have the stones to play a midfield that might control the game technically (ie, Matic-Fabregas-Oscar), instead going for Ramirez who just provides running and nothing more.  Subbing Willian for Oscar took away the option of reverting to that more controlling midfield trio, then he basically gave up even trying to control the midfield when he substituted Drogba for Ramirez and just went to 4-4-2.

All of Costas negatives on display as well. Guy is a total nutter. Chelsea surrounding the ref and diving all over. They deserve what they got

Edit: and that second penalty is nonsense. Silva isn't handling the ball. The entire intent of the rule is lost at this point.

When you have 11 and they have 10, shouldn't you be able to mark everyone on a corner kick?

Instead Chelsea gave up 2 goals off corners, and Courtois had to make a great save to stop one right before the second one.

It's a good question, although Terry actually looked like he had Silva pretty well marked on the game winner -- a good individual effort.  An equally interesting question is how the heck PSG was able to keep earning so many corners down a man -- 11 to 7 for the match.

PSG looks like a legitimate title contender to me.  I wouldn't favor them against Barca or Bayern but I think they could give them a run.

The big difference for them vis-a-vis recent years, IMO, might be Veratti.  That pesky little fuck can really control a game in midfield and was huge tonight in terms of keeping their team flowing and moving down the field.  Motta and Matuidi are hard working players with some good attributes, but they need somebody alongside them with quality and creativity.

They'll obviously miss Ibra if he's suspended for the next round but they should get Lucas Moura back to play on the wing and then can play Cavani up top flanked by Moura and Pastore/Lavezzi, which is still pretty good.

I can't wait to see Jose talk about a conspiracy against Chelsea with a straight face after this game.

I wonder who it will be this time. Maybe Michel Platini personally?

Guys, with City and Arsenal likely out of their respective ties, who's left flying the English flag in Europe?
