Pulling for Duke here.

Reminds me of the Masters. Scott thinking/celebrating like he'd won after the birdie on 18, only to have Cabrera match him.

That was cool, a really enjoyable finish. I don't know who Ken Duke is but I was rooting for him. He finished really strong, very impressive. And the COKE advertisement. Duke knows how to guerrilla market, too.

Good for him, took some grit to get that first win.
That sums up his career. He isn't the most talented guy, but he's carved out a nice long career.

Good for him. Fantastic guy.

Is CBS showing the final round on tape? Why?

Probably because they had the 3-6ish timeslot to show the final round live, but because of the weather, they started everyone earlier.  The tournament is over.  If they don't tape delay it, what do they do with the next 2+ hours of airtime?

I just got back from the Sox game, and didn't realize this was tape delayed until popping in here, so i'm going to pop back out for fear of catching a spoiler.

That said, Haas just made a birdie on about an 11 foot putt.  As of now (through 14 today or something), he's 10/14 on putts between 10-20 feet for the tournament.  Ten for fucking fourteen.  That's just crazy shit, and besides their length, is exactly why these guys are playing a different game than the rest of us hackers.

This coming from a guy using a short putter who won the Fedex Cup with a long putter.

I am very fearful that the PGA will go their own way.  They are not only representing the touring pros, they are representing every teaching pro at the local course, and I believe that those teaching pros want to do whatever they can to make the game more popular / easier so that they can attract more students and weekend players.  The only thing getting in the way of the PGA on this one is that two of the four majors are run by the USGA and the R&A; and that the Masters is likely to side with them as well.  I could see the PGA saying "screw it, we'll call the Players Championship" and tourneys X and Y the new majors; and we'll boycott the old "majors".  It would be chaos but I could see it happening.

I am fully with you on the ruling being correct.  I could see letting the senior tour players anchor, but it is really not much different than Sam Snead's croquet style, which was quickly outlawed.

The PGA has fallen in line.

Very interesting.  Thanks for posting this.  Chaos avoided.  I can sleep now.

Summerhays putting on an absolute putting clinic in round 3 at the John Deere.  Through 16, he's got 9 birdies and a bogey.  Just made another 21 footer for birdie, which by my count, has to be at least his 5th one over 15-20 feet, and made at least a couple over 30 feet.

Flipside, Stricker just misses a 5 footer for eagle.  He makes birdie to go -3 on the day.  Currently tied for 7th, but he's 5 shots back.  Man, if only this guy would get back to playing every week.  I think he might very well be the best golfer in the world. Going into this week, he's 20th on the FedEx Cup Points list, despite having only played in SEVEN tournaments.  He's now 8/8 in cuts made, and through the first 7 events he played, he's got 4 top 10's, including 2 2nd's.  If play finished right now, he'd be in 16th on the list,  and almost everyone else not named Tiger has played in around 20 FedEx events.  He's skipping the British next week to spend his 20th anniversary with his wife.  I'm fluctuate between loving the guy and hating him a lot.

And with his next shot, Stricker puts his next one in one of the few water hazards on the golf course.  Back to hating him again.

9 under on the day (with a bogey) for Summerhays now going into 18.  Has not made a score higher than a 4 today.

Well, he made up for it with that shot. That was beautiful.

My man Daniel Summerhays made a great comeback to tie for the lead going into the 18th at the John Deere Classic, and when faced with the possibility of his first PGA Tour win he sprayed his second shot into a the bunker, where the ball promptly buried.

Pressure is a funny thing.

Edit:  The lie was so bad that his only play was to play the ball to the front of the bunker and try to hole the next shot.  (This is what Baker-Finch and Feherty said was his only play.)  He came close with his second bunker shot, but finished with a bogey to miss the playoff.

Leads the field in putting all week then misses two tournament winners and one to extend the match.....well my guys are now 0-2 in playoffs this season but I'll take the season lead as a consolation

Jordan Spieth is having a hell of a year for a 19-year-old who started the year with no status on the tour.

That win just gave him status, and all the points he has earned this year.  Placing him in 11th place on the FedEx cup list.  This win is so unbelievably big for him and his career.

That'll do it for DJ. Drives it OOB on 18, provisional goes into the bunker, then his 4th shot hits the lip of the bunker and bounces right back at him.

Sneds is in the clear here.

Birdie-eagle start for Tiger at the second round at Firestone, now leads by 1.

I think he wins this week and next week.

Birdies on 10 and 11. 59 watch is on. Needs to go -4 on the final 7 holes. 1 par 5 left to play.

Also, he has a 5 shot lead.

This just proves how much pressure he puts on himself in majors. Especially after he fritters away next week's PGA and then complains even more about the greens.

But it is fun to watch and I'm rooting for him today.
