I agree with this. That's why I think it's important to win some games this year. I think 6 wins is within reach and with it a possible bowl bid. That will allow the program to continue its momentum and close on the current class. It will also help build on next years class.4 6 3 DP said:2014 we will be awful..

That's a pretty harsh headline there. "Wilson the Latest Dude"? Aren't these sites usually trying to build up hype?WayBackVazquez said:21st commit is 2* RB Richard Wilson.

While there's a chance they could surprise in 2014, that would require some amazing performances by a few freshman and the realization that Spaz was an even worse game day coach than any of us thought.
SoxScout said:Gillins picks...... Wisconsin
He says Al Washington was an amazing recruiter.
Says his family was in his ear most about Wisconsin, says that he had "family he didn't know" come out of the woodwork telling him how great Wisconsin is.
FelixMantilla said:Another commit today, Ty Schwab, linebacker from Florida.
WayBackVazquez said:I didn't say he sucked. But since you're asking, he's a marginal 2* LB. In the three years prior to this one, BC has landed seven LBs who were 3* or better. How is his recruitment consistent with the idea that this year is something special?
Don't come in here bitter because after some early success, it's turned out that this class doesn't look much different from those you've had in recent years. It has become very obvious that this is not a top 30 class. I have not gloated about that clear fact, but since you want to come in and thump your chest about an offer from a team that's won 6 games in the last two seasons, I guess we should call it what it is.
mikcou said:Thats fair. However, the idea this class matches up with anything Spaz put up the past 2-3 years is quite frankly, nuts. The bottom of Spaz's classes were literally D3 players; not lower level FBS; not FCS - fringe D2/D3 guys. Spaz had a total of 9-10 guys all last season that had a single other BCS offer. If you want to compare it to Spaz's first full class (e.g. class '10. Rettigs year), that might be a fair comparison - but that was the one and only year, Spaz ever recruited at that level.
Dave Stapleton said:I'm not ready to concede the point on the strength of this class. When all is said and done a few of these recruits are going to see a bump in their ratings.
WayBackVazquez said:Which ones? What are you basing that on, besides in Dazz we trust? Are any going to see a drop in their ratings? Are any going to de-commit?
mikcou said:Not him - but I would be shocked if Harold Landry isnt moved up on Rivals. 3 stars currently and has an offer list that includes the entire ACC and a bunch of SEC teams. Certainly could leave though.
Boston College will battle to stay within the top 50 when the rankings period is over. BC's current 2.67 ranking-per-recruit would not factor into a top 50 finish and its current point total has it slotted to finish at No. 56. - See more at: http://bostoncollege.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1526515#sthash.JXWRF5Z7.dpuf
Interesting that you pasted the second paragraph but omitted the first paragraph in the article you cite.WayBackVazquez said:
But here's the thing. From 2009-2012 BCs classes was ranked 70, 47, 38, 63. That class you mention was still way back at 38. There were way too many 2 star reaches at positions of need. When BC was successful it was ranking in 20s under TOB. That's where this class is going to finish. Particularly of note is the early success BC has had with its targets.
Seems pretty comparable to your 2011 and 2012 classes to me. In 2011, Rivals had you as the #38 class, with 9 three-star and 4 four-star recruits. In 2012, Scout gave you 2 four-star recruits, 8 three-star, and 6 two-star.
This year, Scout really doesn't like your class. Rivals thinks better of the talent, but the reason BC is ranked as high as it is is because it has earlier commits (the rankings are just based on accumulation). Based on average rating of recruit, even Rivals would have BC in the 35-40 range, which seems like a reasonable spot.
Clemson would be a much better experience. USC sucks and its in the ghetto.Dave Stapleton said:Thanks for your input. You have made your point quite clear.
Anyone heading to USC in September? Seems like there may be quite a contingent heading out there and even a few charter trips. I am trying to decide whether to head there or maybe check out Clemson.
Captaincoop said:USC is going to be fantastic, spending a weekend in LA versus a weekend in South Carolina...not really a close call.
In other news, can we start a separate BC football thread for Michigan fan trolling? It's getting tiresome to read.
And in terms of whining about somone trolling. If someone really trolls it will be dealt with, but this is a college sports forum on a red Sox board. Every thread on this forum has people who are not fans of that team/conference discussing the issues.

Hey, I resemble that remark.! The Coliseum is 10 miles from my home. You are correct Red in that USC is in South Central but it is like an oasis. The campus is beautiful and really all you are doing is driving on to campus about 4 hours before the game, tailgating and heading across the street to the Coliseum. The rest of the time you're in SoCal you can hang out at the beach if you like, head over to Beverly Hills, etc. If anyone is thinking about the trip, I would suggest two (2) alternatives:
1. Come for the week. Fly in the Sunday or Monday before the game. Do the whole So Cal thing. Hit Venice Beach, Santa Monica, go down to The OC and go to Disneyland ($100 admission btw), play golf at one of the about 1000 courses around here, drive up to Santa Barbara and do the Sideways wine tour, and get back for the game on Saturday. Fly back home on Sunday. Lots to do and that just scratches the surface.
2. Weekend trip...Fly in Thursday night. On Friday either play golf or do the mini LA thing (Rodeo Drive, Santa Monica Pier, Pasadena and all the old homes over there, Head over to Malibu and Calabassas and see if you can find a real movie star of one of the Kardashians, or just sit by the pool). Friday night the Dodgers are in town that weekend playing the Giants so if you want to get a real classic LA sports weekend, you can go to Dodger Stadium Friday night and the Coliseum on Saturday. Saturday night, assuming this is not a night game, drive 25 minutes to Santa Monica and check out Whitey's old stomping grounds along with Sonny McLains, a Boston sports bar on Wilshire Blvd.
Bear in mind fellas, it is H-O-T in LA in September. Not humid but hot. 90's during the day is not uncommon. So dress accordngly.
Tix are available for the game now. Go to stub hub, much cheaper. My brother is coming out here and he has signed us up for the tailgate BC is sponsoring on the USC campus the day of the game.
Truth be told I have been to Clemson once and Red is right...quite a game day experience. Real old big time southern football. But I would match up a weekend in LA against a weekend in Western South Carolina.
There did I convince you guys??? Call me Anthony Bourdain.....no reservations!
Oh....pssst...BC will win ;-)
BigMike said:Bernie, no doubt about it. LA is a better vacation, and a maybe even a better weekend overall.
But as a football weekend, if what you want is a weekend of football, and tailgating etc. Clemson wins and by a HUGE margin
Oh and I hope you are right on the outcome, but I think that would be a massive upset. I kind of expect USC to be about a 4TD favorite
I thought we went through this with Chris Crane. Than Dominique Davis started handing the ball to opposing players.Captaincoop said:Looking at the two-deep when it came out the other day, I agree about the O Line. It should be a lot better (not that it could be worse).
Williams and Kimbell are talented enough if both are healthy. I think Willis and Rouse will also provide some surprises. That said, there's some depth in the WR core and I expect it to be exploited once the run is established.BigSoxFan said:I'm pretty worried about the running game. Not much talent in the backfield right now.
