3and out is NOT what the doctor ordered. Rettig looks rattled. This game is slowly beginning to look like the Carolina game. The opponent taking control and slowly starting to pull away. They better pull themselves together here and make a stop.

This isn't the Patriots we are watching so I can say it looks like the holidays may be spent in the Bayou. BC is in a hole and they can't afford to get in a hole like this. But they've come back before.

I am so proud of the Syracuse coaching staff. Who would you rather have running your program? Daz or that sack of shit? Where have you gone Mac??? We need you so badly.

I still have zero confidence in the defense but maybe we can turn this into a shootout.
BSF. I hear you but I do have faith in Brown. Need to hold onto the ball for a while to start the half.

Looks like Daz agrees with BSF? Hey is there any way BC plays Michigan in a bowl? I think Dave and Vazquez would live that.
Haha. I don't think so. I'm fine with Vasquez. I think it's RSF and him that have the issues :)

That might have been one of the best plays Rettig has ever made.  Is AW hurt?  Why is Willis getting so much run?

Great drive. Keep making me eat my words, Chase. Williams may be done for the day.
He may be done period as an Eagle depending on when the bowl game is and how bad the shoulder is. He's looking at his NFL career at this point.

Where has this been over the last 4 years??? As you can see BC's O is slowly taking over the line of scrimmage. This has been happening since the Carolina game. Old style smash mouth football. It has been missing since before Jags.

The D really needs to make a stand here and get the ball back. One more touchdown for BC and this game may be out of reach.

I wonder how Delaware's O-line has been this year?

Thank god they took 12 seconds off the clock after the first down there.  Don't feel to good about this though.
running a 3rd down play that ended up with a catch out of bounds instead of burning time was really bad

Yup.  Needed to go for the kill after the interception.  Syracuse had two timeouts left, so the best you would do by running the ball was still going to get the ball back to them with 2 minutes left.  At that point, you can't think about the clock, you have to think about getting 7 points and they didn't do it.  They went conservative and it cost them the game.  Good win for the Cuse though to get bowl eligible.

Especially with Freese as the kicker.  If you don't have an end zone look go down and take the sack.

When push comes to shove, we'll always be the Cleveland Browns of college football. Williams hurt and a loss. Worst possible scenario.
Amen. And Syracuse is a season killer again! You don't think this game is a rivalry game? It most certainly is and glad it's back.

Meh, I would guess 98% of people that have attended the school post 2004 think nothing of Syracuse.

Very disappointing but I have to admit. It's good to feel disappointed after a season ending game. Apathy is gone and football is relevant.

I think we were headed to Shreveport no matter what.

The unfortunate thing for the program isn't the won/loss - its a crummy loss but they lost Andre for the game, this is a team that struggled into the fourth against Villanova and New Mexico State - the expectation that a game against any legitimate D1A team on the road is a bad loss is in my opinion overreaching, especially with 75% of the offense on the bench hurt. The bummer is that recruits won't see BC represented in the Heisman finalists, which in my opinion would have been huge. Oh well.

Basically we should have won this one and lost the MD game, instead results flipped. Either way a bowl game no one will remember in three years. But I will say I flat out love Addazio and Brown's fire, wish Ryan Day had a quarter of it, and we are acting like a Division IA program again, which Gene and his best buddy felt was unnecessary.

Now for an extra month of practice and hopefully Bates can focus on the basketball program and getting the recruiting to act like a D1 program there too. All told I cared about the result today and was pissed when they lost, and I wouldn't have thought that was possible when I watched the Nova game 3 months ago.

How is it they went conservative after the int but then should have ran clock on 3rd? Can't have it both ways. I thought they were aggressive but just failed to execute there. The D failed to execute all day, and the loss is on them.

I was watching in a bar with poor cell signal so I couldn't chip in during the game, and enjoyed BAMA/AU while pulling my hair out over BC

credit to the Cuse for a great game plan on both sides of the ball, that fucking slant was there all day, until DiVito's INT, and the last TD play  had our entire D bite on the roll out/throw back

I didnt see the PI call thet moved the ball down to 30, was it as bad to have Daz going off on the zebras like he was?

as someone above said, where was this play from Chase all along? it was like he man'd up and decided he was going out with all guns, the 58 yard run

after the first half that he had I was worried about Andre in the 2nd, they weren't just tackling him they were piling on, and once they showed him on the sideline being examined by Kavorkian, I knew his day was done, she is the fucking football angel of death

so we're off to some shit bowl, we've got an additional 4 weeks of practice for the young players, and a final trip for the guys, Williams, Rettig, Amidon, KPL, who've been survivors of the worst  BC football error, and have a final chance to get some minor glory, good on them

fuck you Desmond Howard

I'm not going to kill Don Brown over that game or anything else this season. That defense is devoid of athletes, let alone athletes suited to a completely different system than they were recruited to play.

I saw what he did at UConn when he was given a few dudes to work with. Time to find some dudes.

Overall it certianly was a better year than last year but as well all saw, there is definitley areas of improvement. Below are some stats to chew on:

Record 7-5 (4-4 conference/3-1 OOC) 2 road wins
2012:2-10 (1-7 conference/1-3 OOC) 0 road wins

Record v Iron (VT, FSU, Clem.USC/ND) 1-3
2012: 0-4

Victories over ranked opponents: 0,  2012-0  (BC has not beaten a ranked team since 2008);

Record when leading at the half: 4-1
2012: 1 victory...

Record when trailng at the half: 3-4
2012: 1 victory...

On the offense, The overall QB rating this year was 147.7. Last year it was 116.3
This year 2617 in rush yards, 1086 last year;
1806 passing yards this year, 3102 last year;
22 rushing TDs this year, 7 last year;
17 passing TDs this year, 18 last year;
6 INTS this year, 13 last year

This year BC's own 3rd down efficinency was 52-162 for 32% (OK as the grade is thought to be 33% as acceptable so pretty close to being on target);

Overall the O was ranked 70th in efficiency in FBS.  Still a work in progress.

On Defense:

1674 yards given up rushing
3204 yards passing
10 fumble recoveries
8 interceptions ( ironically they had 10 last year)
33+ sacks as opposed to 6 last year
3rd Down efficiency was still a problem. This year opponenets were 74-160 or 46%. That is bad and has to be worked on.
Overall, the D was ranked 73rd in efficiency in FBS.  Again, much work to be done.

Overall there was an upgrade but clealry they need better athletes and the coaches know now what they have and what they need.

Some other interesting factoids from the season:

Freese had 18 FG made both in 2012 and 2013 but overall he scored 93 points this year as opposed to 78 last year (obviously more TDs);

The top 3 rushing teams against BC this year:
1. Army (326) a win;
2. USC (257) a loss;
3. Syracuse (210) a loss;

Whos was #4?  Yup, Villanova (197), a win.  Go figure.

The least yards allowed?  Wake Forest (54) followed closely by VT (55)

The top 3 passing teams against BC this year:
1. VT (391), a win;
2. NMST (380), a win;
3. Clemson (334), a loss

The least allowed? Army (101) followed by Wake (191).

So Harold Landry got his 4th Star from Rivals as suspected.  BC is still hanging in there at 35.  While I don't expect to win my bet with Vasquez (they will likely settle around 40 when all is said and done), it is nice to see that the ranking has maintained a bit.  I also expect at least one of their 2 stars (Lezzar) to get third.  I think Wade and Outlow were the other 3 Stars that could have seen a bump.
