Daily reminder that this team is really freaking good and the MIL coming out of the East isn’t a foregone conclusion.

Good game. We're spoiled. Usually they win by more than this, and there's no angina to work off.

Moving forward Gordon has to be the guy to come get the ball if Kemba is being trapped by the press. Tatum's ball skills are still not good enough in those situations.

That was a rough close there. Tatum looked absolutely gassed. I’m not sure about the strategy of not having Kemba take the ball up the court. I wonder if they were expecting Kemba to get trapped.

Edit: What @The Social Chair said above.

How about Theis with the key play disrupting the layup attempt by Schroeder, his former teammate in the german league, which would have made it a one possession game.
For all the talk about the Celtics needing an upgrade at center, Theis had 13/11/5 and Adams had 4/11/2.

Awesome game from Theis. Especially considering his foot probably still hurts.

feels like the Celtics owned the boards in the 2nd half
Agree. OKC had the rebounding edge at the half. Celtics finished the game with a 53-44 advantage. Tatum, Hayward and Theis with double digit boards and Kanter not far behind with 8.

Yeah, 100%. You’re putting Tatum in a really unnatural position there when usually if he is dribbling, he is trying to score. Obviously he needs to be more heady there but he wasn’t put in a good position.

Whatever, he did plenty to get them a great win so no need to dwell on it too much.

Wanamaker would be useful with leads, closing out games. Good handle, strong, can defend, 90% FT shooter

Hayward rarely has mental lapses, but he should have kept dribbling at the end and forced OKC to foul. Maybe he thought he had an uncontested layup and didn't realize a defender was right behind, waiting to block the shot.

Both of Jaylen’s ankles are hurting right now. Give the man a rest before he gets hurt worse trying to compensate.

Even though he cracked a smile after saying it, Jaylen’s post-game comment about not being sure which side to limp on anymore was concerning. I would hope the Celtics hold him out until after the All-Star Game.

Is it possible that there isn't any lingering issue with his ankles, but he's referencing the "he's injured, it's not load management" routine teams must follow now? I saw him appear to tweak an ankle both times, but neither looked devastating.

Having said that, I know ankle injuries can and do linger (and be retweaked as part of a long annoying cycle, etc.), and if he is experiencing soreness, I hope you are right and the Cs just give him a block of time off.

We had 1 fewer turnover and 9 more rebounds, how did they get more shots?
They had two more shots than us. Likely explained by the foul differential (three, despite having only two more foul shots attempted) and the slightly larger percentage (1%) of rebounds that were offensive.

The Cs would have only lost 5 games over Stevens’ entire run if he would just yell more, refs don’t respect him.

I don't subscribe to the notion that gamethreads have an impact on anything in real life except revealing how stupid and hot takey we all really are. But might as well go with this one. Ale is probably crafting one-liners for the NH Caucusmary
