The 718
Friday afternoon footy -

Leicester being held at arm's length by Norwich. Foxes had a goal taken away by VAR for handball (good call IMO). Then some dude named Jamal Lewis hits a blammo for the Canaries. 1-0 Norwich at 72'. First goal in open play in 11 hours for Norwich.

# 20 beats #3.

Very entertaining game. Norwich now only 4 points away from safety. That's a huge, huge win.

Leicester appears to be fading but none of the other clubs seem to be able to rise up and claim their spot. They looked pretty lousy today. Honestly this is a really bad year for the league in general; two extremely good teams and a bunch of underperformers. How many fanbases would say they are truly happy with their team’s performance this season? Liverpool, City maybe. Chelsea because expectations were low? Leicester, Sheffield, Wolves and maybe Southampton?

I’m happy I got out of bed and went to yoga this morning - a friend of my wife’s who was over last week and saw signs of Union Berlin support. Her dad is sick so he’s lending me his season ticket for the day. It will be my first first division game. They play Wolfsburg. I’ll be going with her dad’s best friend, who is an Atletico Madrid guy, but moved to Berlin and fell in love with Union immediately. Lisa’s dad has been a season ticket holder since the DDR. I have no idea where I’ll be sitting (or standing!)

Fantastic dribble by Zaha. He’d be even better if he played next to a striker who scored. 4 defenders just immediately collapsed on Zaha without even looking back at where Benteke might be.

@candylandriots - have a blast at Union today!

Thank you! (though it’s tomorrow...didn’t mention that part). That would have been tough with Palace-Brighton today.

And it would be very interesting to see Zaha with a guy like a guy like Aguero or Salah or Haaland (I’d like him to go to Dortmund if he has to leave.)

Loving this ongoing Zaha / Schelotto war of words. Zaha may not realize that Schelotto getting himself a second yellow off the pitch ends up helping Brighton.

Zaha is rapidly becoming one of the whiniest players in England. Shut up and play. You're too talented to be such a brat.

I agree with you to an extent, but it’s almost self-fulfilling. People wind him up because they can get under his all skin. He is the most fouled player in the league, by quite a large margin over the past few years if I remember right.

edit: looks like Grealish is #1 this year by quite a bit, but over a longer period it’s Zaha by a lot

I mean, he’s a professional footballer. If an opponent can take him out of the game that easily, isn’t that Zaha’s problem? Might that be part of why the bigger teams aren’t willing to really make a splash?

He’s gotten better about it but yeah, I think that’s probably has affected some teams’ valuation of him.

I don’t think he gets taken out of the game in that he plays noticeably worse. He does take some stupid yellow cards though and occasionally will make some selfish decisions in the heat of the moment, but I’ve also seen that anger put him into a higher gear. I guess it’s jus more unpredictable than anything when someone gets on him like that.

Bournemouth is the worst. They all take turns fouling him.

So remember how I've been bitching for weeks about Moyes not playing Fornals.......

He has 2 assists in the first 55 minutes, and created at least 2 more chances.

Deulofeu is hurt very badly which is a shame for Watford as he was a really bright spot for them in the first half hour.

Ooof, hope Deulofeu is ok, not a longterm injury. He and Deeney have been keeping Watford in the mix.

Well, that was close. Alison bails himself out, though Deeney could have done better.

I'm not completely sure but just going by the article that you posted along with it, it seems like the sentiment is similar to that of RB Leipzig. Despite the 1899 in the team name, the soccer club really hasn't been anything until quite recently. Hoffenheim is a tiny town and Hopp essentially bought his way into the Champions League...which of course is rich coming from Bayern fans.

Ugh. Lazy lazy. But happy for Sarr. Mane is his idol, so that one means something extra.

All credit to Watford, good on them for not sitting on a 1 goal advantage. Hope to never see Lovren again

California. Duh.
It's a strange feeling, because the league is going to happen, the drama was really if they could finish the season undefeated. This basically makes the rest of the Premier League season irrelevant, other than maybe trying to top City's 100 points.

Hopp is a billionaire behind SAP.
He gets called names and gets threatened since Hoffenheim joined the 2nd Bundesliga.
He is in the stadium most of the times. DFB tries to stop the banners against him. Dortmund got a stadium ban in Hoffenheim after breaking the rules again.
Now Bayern came to the village and theres a 3-step-plan to stop this.
1) Stop play once banners come out.
2) Stop it again and tell through speakers that Game will be suspended next time.
3) Game suspended.

There were again a few idiots with banners and it almost led to suspension.
After players came out for the last chance, they passed the Ball to each other with no ambition to move forward. Score was 6-0 for Bayern already...

DFB, DFL (Bundesliga) and big clubs try to stop the bullying, thats basically the reason behind it.

Plus, Hopp seems to be a nice, social guy. Okay, he has billions, but he also spent a Lot on social Projects.

He gave about 0.5billion to social projects (hospitals, schools, etc., NOT including football lol).

Pretty much. Love that the traveling support are still belting songs out, 26-1-1 is an absurd mark
