Whatever. This only increased my level of confidence in the Celtics. They can hang with anybody.

with kemba out, the celtics needed hayward to step up, but instead he threw up all over his shoes.
He's never going to step up. Every third game if we are lucky. Doesn't work well in a long series.

The Lakers are good. You need to crush them early because they are going to get every late call with James. Every call.

Kudos to anyone that genuinely thinks, “The Celtics would have won if only they had done this or that...” Watching the final few minutes, I am not capable of even beginning to approach that level of rationalization.

was tatum's hand even remotely close to his head there, he went down like he got shot
His elbow nearly decapitated Pope's head. Are you guys really saying that wasn't an obvious foul on Tatum? These game threads are Gold, Jerry!

This wasn't a good game for Hayward to disappear in the fourth quarter. Just disappointing.

Did you miss the last 15-20 games where he's been great in almost every one?

it wasn’t an incorrect call, it was just a strange one in context. Especially after clearly blown calls in the out of bounds and the pope push.

Marc Davis was a disgrace as usual.

With Kemba they win. If Gordon hits a bunny layup they win. If the refs call a fair game they win. If Wanamaker's minutes are filled by an average player they win.

deep inside Guido territory
Refs aside, the Celtics missed more than a couple open layups which cost them. Result aside, this team is proving itself each and every night now that they are a legitimate contender to come out of the East and possibly win a championship. Tatum/Walker/Brown/Tatum/Theis/Smart/Hayward is a very, very good top 7 and can match it with any team in the NBA size or no size.

Spring at TD Garden is going to be fucking fun.

I’d take either. The complaint is today we got the worst of both
I dunno man. Seems like the only call that I felt was clearly wrong was the T on Brad.

Jaylen's on LeBron was soft but def came down on his shooting arm. Tatum and Pope going after loose ball with both pushing off was the correct no-call and the offensive foul on Tatum the replay showed was also obvious and correct.

Don’t even care about the L. But Marc Davis should not have a job in this league and you better believe he will be getting big games his spring. Missed calls happen but whole games fly by without this moron knowing what’s happening.

Would've been sweet to piss in the Kobe memorial punch bowl. They needed every call in the fourth and us to be without kemba to not go down by 40 points. Still fucking sucks. Hayward trying to score on the break at the end instead of pulling it back out was a killer.

If Gordo nails that open 2 ft bunnyfor a 4 point lead might have resulted in the Lakers going to a fouling strategy

They had a few plays tonight where I think they were expecting a help defender/block attempt and missed because of it.

the out of bounds play was clearly incorrect—both on the foul that went uncalled and the last to touch. You can’t dispute that, can you? Even if Theis fouled Davis it’s well after Davis committed the initial foul...that’s what makes it so bad. That was biggest call in the game and badly blown.

The Tatum-Pope play was closer, I think you’d rarely see Tatums contact called and usually would see Pope’s called because it interfered with Tatum’s ability to get to the ball. But that one is not nearly as egregious.

The last play was just comical—which is why players on both teams were laughing at it. But it didn’t matter.

the T on Stevens was obviously a joke

So you think it's ok for someone to shove someone out of bounds going for a loose ball? Because that's what was happening as Tatum fell out of bounds.
The fact that all of those calls went the Lakers way is the problem in this close of a game.

Can you expand on this? It was a two point loss on the road without Kemba in a poorly officiated game.

You said decapitated

No point in arguing about this maybe O foul tho, refs were garbage, I think we agree there.
It was obvious hyperbole. Replay showed the clear foul but no I don't agree about the refs garbage down the stretch part as I posted above with the exception of the Brad T. They are required to go to replay in the final 2 minutes on those plays where there isn't certainty and we needed multiple super slo-mo's to see whose fingertip the ball went off.

ESPN headline: "LeBron comes up clutch late."

Yeah, he hit a tough fadeaway, after:

1. He bricked the eight-zillionth clutch FT of his career.
2. AD went over the back on the bricked FT, a play that happens all the time, and almost always go to the other team, even if they were technically the ones who touched it last.
3. AD touched it last.
4. A ten-minute review showed AD touched it last.
5. The ball was given back to Lakers.
