I will say this

Gamethreads have always been unreasonable, especially about Bench players. I remember people being pissed at Scal for not being starter material.

People are generally pissed all the time and the fact is this is not a title contender. This a young developing team

Because they were in the ECF last year people think they are close to the finals. They play better last year they get thrashed by the Lakers.

I get short tempered about few things but, no offence, idiocy about hoops is one.

But blaming Tt for the state of the Celtics is off the charts dumb

TT knows what he is doing. Watch the fucking games. He is talking on D, after fuckups he is often explaining things to Brown, Tatum, etc.
Game after fucking game he plays against the best forwards then TL comes in and play well against the 2nd or third forward. What you guys don't get is Brad is figuring out strategy as the3 game goes, and often Thompson helps him figure out what to do, them TL is a better athlete can execute. Biggest shock when I went to coaching pro, even summer league pro, was "Okay we will defend this guy (insert tactic) but they will probably go (insert counter) then we will (insert tactic). At half time we may pull out s third or fourth option. Thompson has also been hurt and clearly not fit but as his fitness improves he is playing better.

The bigs have been pretty good on D to my eye. The guards and wings otoh have been a turnstile. Little to no resistance on drives, too slow to rotate, too slow to challenge shots, not moving their feet.

This is why I am salty. Being able to play get Thgeis to where he is making plays facing the hoop on O, swithing on D more effectively (switching back,m for 1 thing) gets another long athlete out there. I totally understand what Brad wants with the "two bigs' and the Dean Smith's around here are 100 per cent sure they know it's a bad idea.

TT is fine, I even offered up a mea culpa on him about 10 days ago (below).

this feels like a bridge year, so I'd like to see younger guys get minutes. No one is blaming TT for anything.

TL is one of the young ones that interest me the most. He's been very efficient against bench BIGs in short minutes. I want to see if he can stay efficient against starters and 20+ minutes.

Anyways I'll lay off TT, he works hard and holds guys accountable.

Mea culpa on TT. He's looked a lot better than I was giving him credit for. Still a beef Center but ferociously active on the Off Boards (although he pads his rebounding numbers with all his missed point-blank shots at the rim).

Separating him and Theis has made both better. The poor guy shows up in Boston and in Game 2 he's guarding Kevin Durant o_O

I'm not even sure if there's any one particular guy or lineup you can point to and say "yep that's the problem". Kemba is close but they went up 24 points even with him playing like shit all game long. IMO it's the effort. They folded like a cheap suit once NOP started going on their run. Defense was slow and they stopped running any offense. This team isn't winning shit if their offense is Kemba/JT/JB take turns every possession ISO ball.

Edit: And that's the same thing we were all complaining about two years ago with Mr. Chemistry. The offense was all ISO ball. Not sure why they're playing like that again, but I have to imagine not having GH to help facilitate the offense has something to do with it.

Some athletes are winners and some are losers and there isn't a winner on this Celtics team. They're all sad sack losers
I’m pretty sure this is game thread parody but you forgot to mention that the Celtics didn’t want it enough.

I get that and sorry for singling you out. But last game I heard Kanter was better in every way than TT. I have read to release him and play Grant, or Tako or Semi.

According to the pool report Redick was ejected for "throwing the ball in the direction of the ref with force", he didn't even say anything to get the 2nd T

I would love to see Brad just lose it at some point and yell, "Pass the fucking ball!" After the 3rd possession in their 2nd half isoball strategy. When they move the ball well they look awesome and then they just seem to stop, and never start again.

Brad dropping an F bomb in a nearly empty arena would hopefully shock them into their senses, but it is just maddening how they go from smooth to clunky over 48 minutes of basketball.

Team can't play with any consistency is the most frustrating thing right now. Most concerning was how the offense couldn't generate good looks (and when they did Kemba missed them) when NO upped the defensive pressure in the 2nd half. Even with no shot blocker, they scored 35 points in a quarter and half, plus OT. While the defense hasn't always been good, this one is on the O.

Pluses: Monster game from TL, solid outings from PP and Nesmith. A couple clutch baskets from Tatum.

Don’t discount the Kemba open looks though. He was 1-12 and in the end game he missed two wide open takes.

One of those goes down, and they win.

It’s the most make-miss league it’s ever been, and Kemba/JB went 4-23 from 3. That’s how you lose nowadays.

They went up big because NO turned the ball over a ton. We can debate how much of that was BOS and how much NO, but when BOS doesn't get transition buckets and has to rely on 1/2 court offense, they have trouble.

I said this last year during one of BOS's slow stretches. The idea of having good wings is that they create mismatches - too big for small guys to cover and too quick for bigs. BOS's problem is that our wings are too slow to guard fast guys and too small to cover bigs. Not keeping guys in front and getting hammered in the paint is a tough way to win games.

Even when they were up, JB, JT and KW were not shooting well. It seemed like only a matter of time if NO starting playing better on offense.

The 4th Q. looked like playoff style basketball, where things slow down and the defense gets ratcheted up. At least by NO. C's responded terribly. Theis looked like playoff Theis shooting the ball, tentative and missing badly. Tatum couldn't get the ball out of double teams quickly enough. Kemba couldn't make open shots. Jaylen wasn't in the flow of the offense. Looked much like their 4th Q efforts in last years playoffs.

Just got around to finishing watching that. How do you lose a 20+ point 2nd half lead to a 12-17 team?

And also, TL needs to play more, Theis less.
