Shams saying it's El Uno's Clips on the 18th. Woooot!

Not expecting instant chemistry or anything close, but should be hella fun to watch. If nothing else, poor Looney, Bell, Jerebko and Green will no longer to have to battle 7-foot 270 lb. NBA centers for 48 minutes a game.

Ahh well. It's an L either way. I'd honestly hold him back one game though. Harrell is very annoying and there's a greater than 1% chance they both get kicked out in his debut.

Kerr on coaching Curry: I just told him to make five or six impossible shots in a row, and he did it. He's very coachable.

Ha. That's great. That pretty much sums up coaching this Warriors team.
Tell it to Mark Jackson, who somehow managed to coach a team with the most devastating offensive player in NBA history and 73-win potential to a #6 seed / first round exit that was #11 in the league in offense and (literally) dead last in the NBA in passes per possession. Shades of Jarrett Jack pounding the rock at the top of the key while everyone stood around and Steph waited forlornly in the corner in the hopes that his defender would leave him.

No wonder the Preacher was so salty last night (and is every time he calls a Warriors game) — refusing to allow that Steph's work ethic has anything to do with how good he is, pointing out how well-deserved every call against the Warriors was, whining that the Pelicans should have won, etc. etc.

As far as Kerr: there's obviously a ton of truth in his comments, but they also say a lot about how self-deprecating and witty he is, especially compared to the self-serving blowhard who preceded him.

That gives him credit for Luke Walton's 39-4 start in 2015-16, which seems a little unfair.
Seems pretty fair to me, given that he hired Walton for his staff, and that Walton was running his schemes, his rotations, and consulting with him daily. If you're gonna dock Kerr those games, you have dock the head coach a win every time he gets ejected and his team wins. (Edit: and you'd have to give Mike Brown credit for a bunch of Kerr's 2017 playoff wins).

I mean, assistant coaches are huge parts of any team's staff, but that goes for Walton, Mike Brown, Ron Adams, Jarron Collins, et al. Generally something like "auteur theory" is applied to head coaching. (Like, Orson Welles gets credit for Citizen Kane even though there were plenty of shots and scenes for which Gregg Toland was responsible, etc.)

Coach K disagrees with this analysis...

This has been standard for decades. When George Karl missed games or chunks of games for his cancer treatments the games Won or Lost when Adrian Dantley was calling the shots for the Nuggets were all credited to Karl.

Ultimate GSW sploogefest: Warriors simultaneously clinch the #1 seed in the West (while busting out their "We Believe" unis for the first time in a decade) and celebrate the end of a 47-year era with their last regular season game in Oakland.

Kerr takes the mic and delivers a predictably moving ode to the building and the fans. How things have changed in seven years, since Lacob took the mic, promised the fans better days ahead, and was lustily booed off the floor. Good times...

I love how at the end of that article, Simmons basically dismisses Curry and Klay without a second thought. Three months after that article, they'd pick up Harrison Barnes and of course Draymond in the 2nd round.

Yup, pretty funny. Although at the same time, he was right that the franchise looked like a directionless tire fire with some horrible contracts. Just goes to show what can happen when the 7th, 11th, and 35th picks turn into superstars all within a 3-4 year span. That tends to fix just about everything (and of course they nailed the secondary moves around that).

Golden State picked Curry, Klay, and Dray with the 7, 11, and 35 in a four year period and win three titles, with more probably to come. OKC strikes gold with Durant, Westbrook, and Harden with the 2, 4,and 3 in a three year period and didn't win any, and only got to the Finals once. What a difference a solid ownership group and front office makes. Once the Warriors shitcanned that idiot Mark jackson and brought in a coach who had the stuff to guide a team properly, they won like no other team in recent NBA history. The scumbag OKC owners ended up with nothing but a bloated payroll and a team that will barely make the playoffs.
