After Celtics superstar Theis, the next highest +/- players were the Marcii with +34 for Mook and +32 for Agent Of Chaos. As many others have posted, moving them to the starting line-up really does seem to be one of the keys to their recent run in addition to playing some straight up shitty teams. And on the latter point, they are flat out killing those teams like they should so that is positive too.
so can your anointed superstar get 15-17 mins/gm at the 5 without hurting the Celtics?

I was at this one! Was irritated that Lil' Nate Robinson drained a near-halfcourt three at the end that prevented, I believe, what would have been the lowest score in the shot clock era. That C's team, pre-KG injury, was a f*cking machine.
I've never seen any post player have such a positive effect on his teammates while only making a couple baskets than a healthy KG.

I am not following. I was trying to be funny but clearly failed. Try as you might, you will not draw me into your web of arguing about how much extra time Baynes and Williams should be getting. I have no interest in any of that.

I am of the mind that Stevens and company know better than I do about optimal usage of each fo their players on their roster.

Fair enough. I understood your superstar comment was sarcasm, that's cool.

Just wanted to see if you expected Theis to see more minutes down the road. Got it, you have no thoughts in regards to playing time, starters, reserves, rotations, etc.... Duly noted

I may have thoughts but I know I don't have the information that the Celtics (and other coaching staffs and management) have access to on a daily basis. Its a very safe bet that NBA teams have some sort of metrics around optimal usage of players and rotations, broken down on an opposition level basis. To think that I - a basement dweller here on some random internet message board - possess enough information to know better than a pretty well regarded coaching staff like that of the Celtics seems to be the height of arrogance. However your results may vary.

I want to be clear - I don't begrudge others question coaching decisions and I think in-game Xs and Os decision making is an entirely fair thing to critique. Rotations are too when the staff in question has a poor track record (e.g. the Bulls or the Suns). I just feel that Brad et al have earned some trust given their track record to date.

Finally, the NBA is really hard right now because its still transitioning from the game it was as recently as a decade ago to more fluid line-ups. Its easy for fans to clamor for more size or more small-ball line-ups because that is what their bias tells them. However coaches are supposed to adjust to the opposition on an ongoing basis and going with X number of player types on the floor just because that is how it should be done is a sure career limiting move. Fans on the internet or on talk radio don't have the same consequences in demanding certain line-ups.

Its just a pillow fight, hope everyone's feelings are intact.

Apologies if I offended you Dejesus and Lucky!

(But the drumbeat won't stop) Theis put up a +50. What does the man need to do to get more minutes?

You never offend me KOC! I don't get freaked out by people who politely challenge anything around here. Its what we do.

I think Theis is going to get more minutes now and I don't think it was because the C's finally realized what they have. Instead, I think they were bringing him along slowly. He clearly has good chemistry with some of the other guys on the squad.
