I don't really think it was a bad effort tonight. They were on the ground, playing hard, 8 steals, 10 blocks.

Only 16 assists because they missed every shot.

Tatum gets such a crappy whistle for how good he is.

Last 9 games, Hauser 8 for 31 from 3.
Unlike Brogdon and Smart, whose outside shots looked awful tonite, Hauser didn't miss by much on his 3-point attempts. Neither went in, though, so that probably doesn't matter.

Grant was terrible tonight, basically invisible - 5 boards, but one was off his own miss. Missed wide open threes.

Marcus had 7 assists halfway through the second quarter, finished with 8. Ball just wasn't going down.

Buying at the bargain basement store when you are trying to win is not the way anymore even though we were constantly sold it in our youth. Banners cost money and assets. They also fly forever. You do the trade because they have him under control for their window and he can provide a bunch of things that the others do not. Dude is a bucket.

It’s a make or miss league but that was a horrible loss. They have no business losing to the Magic especially at home and with everyone available. Probably Mazz’s worst coaching job of the year, not playing Pritch and having the team unprepared to play.

Smart, Brogdon and White combine for 2-17 from 3-point range. If only we had a guard on the bench that's a 40% 3-point shooter who could act as a microwave. Nah, another DNP.

Funny stat of the night is Cs had 12 blocks and Magic only 1 block when I perceive them as the much taller team. That 1 block was from 6'4" Fultz.

I check out their box scores on a daily basis…
Then you know. He is having a brilliant season (mostly because he is most of Detroit's scoring now with Cunningham out) and BH is right that he'll cost but he becomes the team's third scorer and another long dude who gives them line-up options. He isn't perfect but you get him rather than a backup big unless they think TL may not be able to make it back to ~80-90%.

You and your philosophy are needed in the Red Sox threads

I don't think this team NEEDS another anything right now but down the road they undoubtedly will. Pritchard is a useful NBA player but the C's, through two different HC regimes, don't seem to like the risk profile of his defense or whatever. If they went into the playoffs tomorrow, he would not be considered a reliable bench shooter.

People love him but he is small and NBA teams punish small.

Bojan is having a monster offensive season but he would cost one of Smart, White or Brogdon. I'd rather just keep those 3, even though they are slumping a bit

need to find a guy in the $10M range so they can use Gallo + scraps

The C's are fine with scoring and a healthy TL will help with D

Orlando is playing well. I’m not going to lose sleep over a Celtics home loss in mid December.

Backcourt shooting was definitely a concern coming into the season. Of course 2 of those 3 guys are shooting well over 40% as well. At what point do you say this guy doesn't have it tonight, or do you just keep thinking "he's due". Tough call.

I just don't get why the lack of Pritch use in the REGULAR season. Totally understandable he will be picked apart for his defense in the playoffs, but lots of poor defensive players can make hay over 20-minute stints in the regular season.

You aren't wrong that it will require the Celtics to make a tough choice - most obviously White, who is the superior overall player, under contract for an extra season and packaged with draft assets might hold some appeal for the Pistons - the draft assets would likely be a lot too. I know its unlikely.

Also, to be clear, Darko dislikes Bojan's game on D but I am willing to bet that some of the decline is a function of playing for the Pistons. Maybe not. For me, the guy is an elite shotmaker who can make teams pay when the Jays struggle - they already have a few but portfolio theory says get more!

In any event, this is all the silly trade dreams so no need to debate anything.

Simply because you don’t bench any of your healthy guard rotation of Smart, Brogdon, or White for the far inferior player in a regular season game. That’s how you lose players and have the rest of the team questioning the coach. It’s not like Pritchard has been lighting the world on fire when he’s had opportunities either….he’s on a 4-18 3-pt run.

What I don't understand about the coaching so far this season is that Joe seems to play the starters no matter what's happening, no timeouts etc.. but has had instances where he's switched it up and the bench has provided a spark. He's playing the starters way too many minutes so far.. makes no sense for bench guys to have so many DNPs this early in the season..especially on a night like tonite when a number of the players obviously didn't have it.

I don't follow closely enough to fully understand the rotations, but feels like they could use some tweaking to just make sure we have a fully healthy squad in the playoffs... or that we at least have a squad that have all had semi consistent PT over the season just in case.

#NEBHInjuryReport for tomorrow vs. Orlando: Danilo Gallinari (left knee ACL repair) - OUT Jayson Tatum (personal reasons) - OUT
This makes for an interesting game. Looking forward to seeing how the Celtics fare without Tatum. I am guessing that Grant Williams gets a big bump in minutes.
