So strange. Jaylen blasts that dagger 3 then gets strip sack for a TD now bricks 2FTs. Might be biggest delta on back to back to back plays I’ve seen.

JB getting his shot blocked, leading to a runout, then missing two FTs, isn’t ideal close out play.

We just saw them be resilient. Lol they’re still down two starters. And they do shit like this. I’m impressed NGL.

So given the choice between a 5 and 1 road trip and losing to Lakers, or this ... which do you choose?
uh, yeah, i'd have rather beaten GSW and LAC, they're the better teams.

Lakers are going nowhere fast, we can spot them a 30 fucking point run and still stunt on their asses. I always want to beat them but if we were coming off wins against GSW and LAC and we lose the b2b, I'd just shrug.

JB and JT 69 points
LBJ and AD 70 points

Tatum with 44 points on 29 shots, 9, and 6
Brown with 25 points on 21 shot, 15 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals.

This was a rollercoaster game. Tatum and Brown came through in crunch time.

Three Cali games in four nights and second game of b2b and it goes to OT after being down by 13 with under four minutes. I love this team.

Why didn’t LeBron freight train to the rim on the last possession of regulation? Could either dish to a wide open Reaves or probably get fouled.
mostly gassed.... but a 7'2" tree was playing off Westbrook and standing by the lane to challenge Bron

He’s almost 38 years old and was approaching 40 minutes played with a frenetic final 4 minutes to cap it off. Dude was tired. Didn’t help that the lane was clogged.

Their last few possessions were weird. Felt James kind of settled for the long jumper up 5 with a minute left.

If the team doesn't have a collective aneurysm halfway through the 3rd quarter and completely change the way they were playing, we win this by 25.

I'll choose to focus on the comeback and absolute lockdown final 4 minutes in crunch time (plus the OT). That was a big neon sign saying "just remember, we can flip a switch and own you, anytime we want".

And it still took the inbound bucket by Marcus and AD choking two free throws.

Your second graph is kinda the whole point of the NBA these days.

The Davis misses were big. They worked clock and drew a foul.

But that is why the big lead early was good. Lakers expended a bunch of energy to come back.

And I could fire back about the refs and the free throws, or missing our bigs. If you want to complain that nothing's perfect, you'll never be happy. Being happy is nice.

This win made me happy. When I think about it, it probably makes me happier than utterly laying waste to that D3 college team the other night, against the University of Phoenix Suns or something. Partly because of the opponent tonight, but mostly because it said something about our team's ability to pull our head out of our collective ass once it gets stuck in there.

Coming from you Mr Cranky Pants is something! I kid
Ha! This was actually the first game of the roadtrip I was down on them. It was actually more Mazz tonight than the players. In the grand scheme of things losing to west coast teams doesn't matter but f the Lakers.

Celts had a 94% win probability with 1:17 left in the 3rd quarter (up 88-74). Lakers at 99.6% with 3:52 in the 4th (106-93). 4th biggest comeback in the NBA this season.

Lakers went up 4 in OT on a Westbrook steal and layup and then a 4' bank shot, getting them back up to 75% win prob. Then they went: Westbrook 15' pullup (miss), James 3 PT (miss), Westbrook 3 PT (miss), Westbrook 3 PT (miss), Davis 3 PT (miss), at which point the C's went up 8 on the Jaylen 3.

Tatum played 16% more minutes than his season average; Brown played 25% more. LBJ played 19% more, Westbrook 24%, Davis played 40% more minutes than his season average. And Reggie talking the whole OT about how Anthony's about to fall over.

edit: which is an argument in favor of both sides of the Mazzulla Minutes argument: on the one hand, it's good to keep your starters' minutes up so they're prepared when they need to go long; on the other hand, if your starter is used to playing 33 minutes and is at 41 at the end of regulation, you really ought to consider finding somebody else to cover those final 5.

I wonder, if any team has won an NBA game where they allowed the equivalent of a 47-14 run. Gotta be on one hand.

Best record in the NBA and they’ve played more road games than any team in the top 10 in either conference except Denver (which also has played 16 road games)

Great question, and you're probably right. Timberwolves went on a 40-15 run before losing in OT to Memphis last year.. that's the closest I could find eyeballing the top comebacks for games with really steep slopes on both ends of the game for the past few years.

I feel bad for the people who turned this game off and missed them getting their shit together in the absolute nick of time.

*whispers* I was almost one of them...
I pulled out my earbuds so I wouldn’t have to listen to Kevin Harlan. If they can make a camera that can remove someone from a picture, why can’t they make something that removes Kevin Harlan’s voice from broadcasts? Him and Mark Jackson. Oh, and the guy with the trumpet at France’s World Cup games.

That was a fantastically fun game to be at. Nice win for C’s coming home, totally changes the arc of the trip. Need some rest and to get Al and TimeLord back. Hoping Smart’s injury wasn’t seriuosly — he bolted directly for the lockerroom on his own.

Love the excuses for LA's schedule. We're the team still on the road trip and on a B2B.
Can't look it up now but this is at least the fourth LA B2B this season and in each case the Lakers game was the second game. So no those assholes get every break from the league as always.

where I was last at
Looks like I missed a helluva 4th qtr. Damn west coast games. I went to bed semi-annoyed they were letting the Flakers hang around. I may have to watch the 4Q for a shot of schadenfeude later today.
