FWIW: Jaylen was great in the Finals, while Jayson was blah.
Jaylen has become a real shark. As a younger player he would sort of float around aimlessly and that could be sharklike too but now he is more sharklike in the way Quint describes a great white. He is kind of immune to whatever is going on around him and just wants to get buckets and is unbothered by anything else in the way most players occasionally will be bothered by something from time to time.

Anybody who's counting out the Warriors in the West is crazy. As long as they have a healthy Curry, they have a chance. No doubt PHX or NOLA could beat Golden State, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Celtics just have to be able to get inside and work back out—some of tonight is poor shooting, but a lot is they are just moving it around perimeter and shooting. This is what killed them in June…they need to play inside-out and they struggle to penetrate against GS

I agree it's a bummer for Tatum to lay a dud in a big game like this.... it's just 1 game and I wouldn't be overly concerned.

But if there is anything negative to take from this game its that our MVP level guy kinda sucked.

Yeah, I'm not worried at all. Of course we wanted them to beat the Warriors, but they're going to lose some games along the way this season.
Yeah it’s big picture. I can see this as a reminder that they still have to get tougher mentally.

Totally agree. He has been much more consistently good/great in the big games than Tatum.

I hope not. He clearly was putting pressure on himself tonight. He is a top 5 player in the league and he just needs to play and stop thinking.
He has used these moments to motivate and stay focused. A cathartic romp through all the western conference contenders in December would be fun for fans but not sure if the team isn’t better off being humbled a bit.

Embarrassing. From continuing to play drop coverage, to bad second half turnovers, guys passing up open shots they need to take to Tatum just explosively shitting himself. It could be good getting embarrassed if you learn from it, but that's what the finals was supposed to be. Tatum looked just as doe-eyed and woebegone as he did back then.

If the Celtics get out of the East, I just hope it’s anybody but the Dubs out West.

I don’t think “wake up call”’ is the right term, but to get blown out by the champs isn’t the worst thing in the world. Despite their record, this shows the C’s that they’ve got a lot of work to do. Excited to see how they respond.

Grant being tossed for not knowing you can’t punch the ball into the stands when he was probably trying to hit the backboard anyway and just missed about sums this night up.

I’m sorry guys shit happens and it’s not the nfl with 17 games a year. They’ll be ok and this was probably very good for them in the long run

We weren’t going to avenge last June tonight regardless. We’ll avenge last June next June. And it’ll up to Golden State to decide whether to watch or not.

Warriors seem to be the worst possible matchup for this Celtics team, and remain in their heads. Still, it's one game on a road trip, and shit sometimes happens in a single game.

I think this is fair. GS is still king of the west and the west is meh as the Celtics have previously proven. GS will probably be there at the end.

Bad game from Tatum, a bummer but he will survive.

Klay is mostly washed, but had a throwback game.

We just lost to the 88 Celtics. It'll be OK.

They're the defending Champs with their core returning intact. There's really no one else in the west playing well, I just don't see how anyone could count them out.

I missed whatever the fuck happened in Phoenix the other night, but I think this team just looks different with Horford in. In a really good way.
The gamethread vs Phoenix tells the story. That was No Horford No Problem. We basically Globetrottered them for 3 quarters while all of us on the thread sat absolutely gobsmacked in admiring awe.
