I don't like the absence of defense, but Kanter's offensive rebounds were very valuable. His rebounding allowed Edwards for one the freedom to put his shots up (and miss).

Kanter had 11 and 11 today, and his offensive rebounds kept the C's in the game when nobody on the team could hit an outside shot.
Enis small minutes off the bench with the 2nd unit is very effective. Kudos to Brad

The game changed when they picked up the defense and turned the Knicks over with 5-6 mins left

11 and 11 is great but the reality is that when he was on the floor, the Knicks were consistently scoring on the Celtics. The on/off numbers tell you way more about Kanter than counting stats. His rebounding and scoring are great but they get negated by his absolute failure to play even sub-adequate defense. Williams, with less box score highlights, was way more responsible for the Cs being in the game than Kanter.

There is reason why Kanter was available for belly button lint and Pepsi-coin this offseason...

Yeah, I'm not convinced Kanter is the problem. In the proper role, he seems more than adequate. His tenacious rebounding is something they don't get from anyone else.

I like this Celtics team. Tatum and Brown are so much fun to watch.

I would agree with you based on what I've seen, but Kanter's on/off numbers are surprisingly good. +12/100 possessions coming into today, +4 for today's games.

Truth be told, Semi and Granite on the floor together is just what this team needs. They aren't the most skilled players but their effort and contesting everything on defense is what has helped turned this game.
Yep, you and Sprowl nailed the momentum change. Semi, Granite (nice one Sprowl), JT, JB and Kemba turned the tide after Kanter kept them in the game. Solid win.

What on off splits? He has a fairly large positive on off overall, and team defense with him on the court is 45% 31% for 3 with him on vs 43% 35% for 3 with him off.

Btw, the reason he was available for cheap is that what you're describing was true until this year, he hasn't had a positive on off since 2012-2013, but he appears to be another case of Brad knowing how to get the most out of his strengths and minimizing his weaknesses.

You'd think a 9 point road win would feel better than this. Oh well, on to Miami, start of a tough stretch with Denver, Cleveland, Indiana, Philly, and Dallas after that. 5 tough games in the next 6. Good opportunity to step it up.

Kemba was sub par. Smart got hurt and didn't impact the game in a positive way. Their two dynamic young wings and a few solid role players carried them to a comfortable road victory by dominating the fourth quarter.
