The issue with UConn coming into the year was their lack of depth due to losing all of the stars last year. This wasn't a classic dominant UConn team even though the undefeated record showed otherwise. They'll be a better team next year when they lose only Chong and gain 6'6" Duke transfer Azura Stevens and Kentucky transfer Batouly Camara off of their transfer years.
The fact that Dangerfield couldn't unseat Chong is not a promising development.

Z sending Collier's charmin soft behind to the bench is a blessing.

Looks like UConn panicking? Haven't gotten a good shot off in a long time. MSU pressuring ball full time, UConn not handling it well at all.
They panicked all night.

Except Gabby.

only complaint I can even fathom with her is she should've shot more than she did.

It's nice that Gabby Williams' mom has chosen to join us here on SoSH.

I thought on friday that Chong had herself a good 2nd and 3rd quarter, but shat the bed early and late. Samuelson had a shit first half shooting and positioning wise, but contributed a bit defensively and then picked it up to "average" in most of the second half. She's a deadly perimeter shooter when she's moving well and her teammates are moving the ball well, but neither was true on Friday. The team's defense looked great in the 3rd of course when they went on that big run, they just couldn't quite win enough scrambles, rebounds and breakaways.

The difference was just the extra possessions that MSST got, from all of the turnovers they created and their 6'7" behemoth playing like she's Manute Bol up there with rebounds. MSST played an A+ game and UConn played a B- game and against that team, that's just barely enough to win it.

Chong payed 5 good minutes in the 2nd qtr and wasn't good beyond that. Her and Nurse played awful perimeter defense.

Samuelson barely moved on offense. She would literally stand in one spot for the entire shot clock.

Collier was awful and just manhandled the entire game.

B- isn't even close. this was a C- at best.

If this is true, this is the worst coaching decision I've ever heard. After an OT game, why would you put your team through a grueling 2 hour practice with a less than 48 hour turnaround for the NATIONAL TITLE GAME? After almost 40 games, what could you possibly be doing other than going through the scouting report and walk through the opponents' sets(especially since it's a conference opponent).

My understanding is Vic Schaefer ran #HailStateWBK for two hours on Saturday while #Gamecocks did yoga and got off their feet. Game over.

Drama of a close game involving UConn, yeah. I wouldn't be shocked if today's ratings are as good as they would've been with UConn, just from the carryover from that game. Or not. The women's ratings are super-volatile and as influenced by counterprogramming as anything else.
Ratings up 20% over last year for the championship.
