Next up, Toronto. Who’s excited?

I had a long rant teed up about who was less relevant, the Habs or the Leafs. But right now neither is relevant. Right now the Bruin’s opponent is immaterial.

The Bruins are an electric, joyous, look-what-they-did-this-time, unstoppable buzzsaw. Do you think the Leafs are happy to see them come to town? It doesn’t matter.

Just ask the Penguins who squandered a 5-2 lead. Or the Rangers who thought they could rely on their all-world goalie, a few big hits and a previously high octane offense only to be dismantled by a total team effort. Or any of the other teams to whom they’ve laid waste.

The Bruins are looking around the room and are realizing that they like what they see, they trust who they’re with. All four lines, all 3 pairs, the goalies. And they’re not even at full strength.

Foligno rides shotgun on this game thread because he’s earned it. Despite the ink spilled this offseason (myself included) deriding his diminishing speed, deteriorating skills, high cost, and his impeding the progress of the young’uns, he has come back healthy and hungry. He’s making plays out there. And Uncle Nick established himself as a heartbeat of this team.

Score early. Score often.

Win.

I enjoy watching Steve Dangle when he's melting down about the Leafs, Bruins need to give him some good content for him this week.

Hopefully we'll see Ullmark again tonight. Ride him unless it is a back to back.

I‘ll be pulling for the players rather than the laundry tonight, hoping they weather any flat start and rally around the culture they’ve built and the effort they’ve put forth this year. Looking for some Krejci magic.

Yeah, I seriously doubt this has much of an impact on the team of players playing this game tonight.

Management does something stupid involving a kid they've never met and is unlikely to ever play with Boston?

Somehow this strikes me as far less of a topic for the players than it is for people like us, off ice.

I come down on your side (that this won’t affect the players the same way it has management), but the fact that Bergeron, Marchand, Foligno, and Montgomery had to put in ever a few seconds’ thought isn’t exactly a good thing.

Like they're all sitting around on a message board lamenting a Providence signing? No way. They're not weak.
It’s more then being pissed off at the media bull shit that they gotta deal with over something that has nothing to do with them.

And I hope I look like an idiot on this and they win 7-0.

I think you're thinking that they pay more attention to the media than they actually do. They're focused on hockey and their families 24/7 and we're focused on Toucher and Rich (well, I'm not, but you know what I mean).

Yeah you’re probably right. We look at it as fans, and they look at it as something their employer did. And we’ve all had things that our employers did that we hated, but we still got the job done.

Yes, if he was in tonight's lineup it likely would be a distraction, but otherwise 20 guys are currently giving a grand total of zero fucks. It's not a reflection on them, and they're playing for themselves, their families, and the other 19 guys.

EDIT: If they let something like this be a distraction, we might as well kiss the Cup good-bye.

I don’t think it’ll be an issue long term but I could see it impacting them tonight. They’ve spent the better part of a day answering questions about it and it’s quite clear the players aren’t exactly enthused by the signing. Short-term I could see if taking the wind out of their sails a bit.

Spent the day answering questions from whom? That fat-ass Joe Haggerty who they talk to every day?

EDIT: They don't fucking care about some Providence signing who may never sniff the NHL.

No shit. I am really tired of how hard the NHL and MLB make it to watch games.
Agreed, I have YouTube TV and ESPN+, and it bugs the shit out of me when I can’t watch a game because it is being carried on NHL Network. I am willing to pay money to watch every Bruins game, yet I can’t.

Anyone have access to a decent stream you can share?
