On the radio broadcast, Max was talking about how Kyrie is working hard to get Hayward going. That is a huge positive sign. He is taking his leadership role seriously (instead of yelling "fuck Thanksgiving") and he knows that Hayward getting right is key to their prospects going forward.
Kyrie is allowed to do this when Baynes, Smart, and Yabu are in the rotation. When Horford and Jaylen are out there the ball has to go through them at times to keep them involved. That is the benefit......the downside is having Yabu on the floor in real live games.

On another note for the radio guys......is Max always this annoying and outdated? He actually criticized Theis (I believe) for taking a 3 on his first shot stating that he should take a 2 as his first shot because it's "easier." Hearing something so asinine from an ex-player is astounding as he of all people should know that offensive flow and defensive resistance don't take into account whether you've yet to take a shot.

been very happy with marcus smarts shot selection, and his stroke has gotten quite a bit better. i’m not cringing like i normally would when he pulls up from deep.

I used to think every made Smart 3 is a mixed blessing, since it would motivate him to shoot more of them, but I've since come around to the fact that he is going to shoot them even if he hasn't hit one in months, so might as well celebrate them when they go in.

i love IT4, and would welcome him back with open arms - but i can’t believe i considered that trade to be a wash. kyrie is on a completely different level offensively, and he’s showing this season he’s not nearly the liability on the other side of the ball that thomas was.

You mean Zizic, right. Not Kyrie. In addition to my horrible take (which was stronger than yours), many here lamented the loss of Zizic. I mean, he occupies space as good as anyone but that is about it.

Why is Terry taking that shot...oh, wait...

In other news, poor Alec Burks. He goes from an underperforming but talented WC team that still has a shot to make the playoffs to a team that will likely finish at the bottom of the standings.

This team is scoring a ton of fucking points, finally.

EDIT: And Marcus Smart's shooting percentage is creeping upward! Irrational hope!

zizic felt like a throw-in, and the celtics hype machine made it feel like a much bigger loss. however, it appears as though a throw-in was exactly what he was. to be fair, the 5 was pretty thin at that point in time and theis has come along nicely.

Your point stands and I will mea my culpa once again. I was very wrong about that trade. The most wrong on this board mostly because, like you, I hated Kyrie's sieve-like defense. I have never been so happy to be mistaken.
