This Celtics team has more very good players than any Celtics team in the past 50 years.

Nice job by Tatum beefing up his stat line by getting fouled late in a game where New Orleans was never going to catch up. 19 points on 18 shots looks a lot better than 14 points on 18 shots

And still won without much fret. 10 assists from your forward is impressive.

I'ma gonna say something, kids. This team is top-2. The other is Milwaukee. That right now is your Finals. Enjoy the ride.

Was the one to Grant on the baseline knocked out of his hands? I thought that looked like an unbelievable dish.
It was not. But it was sort of accidental at first but then Tautm followed through with his hands. It was like oopsish but no I got this.

I'm excited too. But, Middleton still isn't back and the rotations will shorten in the playoffs. The Bucks are real competition in the East.
For sure. I’m gamethread green teaming but they’re definitely the other elite team in the East. Still think we’re a better team but agree they’re our only real competition as things stand right now.

I think we can agree on that. Still early. Remember last year.

Yeah 86 is probably top-3 or maybe top-5 all time.
I didn’t claim that the 1986 top end talent wasn’t better than the 2023 team, but including Rob Williams, this team is 10 deep in good players, while 1986 was eight deep (sorry Sam Vincent and Greg Kite)

The 2008 team arguably had more good players than 1986 and 2023, at 11: KG, PP, Ray, Rondo, Perk, Posey, House, Powe, BBD, Cassell, PJ Brown. Hopefully, this year’s team will add a buyout big to get to 11

Can Payton Pritchard play piano like Rick Carlisle?

2008 team was a wagon, on par with the 86 club. Back then, I often wondered how those teams would fare head-to-head. I think it'd go seven.

I see where you're going with this. Its a nice experiment. 86 had Walton, Wedman and Sichting off the bench and little else. I dont think the first three off the bench in either 08 or now compares to those 3.
But that 08 team was insanely deep. Scal, Pollard and Gabe Pruitt were the end of the bench (13-15). But the top 12 guys were all at-least-good NBA players.
This year, Brogdon and White *might* compare to '86 as the first two off the bench (plus whoever gets bumped when RW comes back)...but the rest -- while possibly having more potential than the 86 back-enders -- aren't really proven NBA players like the 08 group was. (Although watching Hauser the other night did make me think of Wedman's instant offense.)
