I was really looking forward to this season, but with almost 20% of it played so far, I hate watching this Celtics team. Where was that spark they played with in the regular season when they reeled off a long winning streak? Where is that fire they showed as an undermanned ECF Finals team?

They probably haven’t even matched their effort on opening night last year after Hayward went down. Still reading press from the summer or some shit. Brad included, seems like.

Did Tatum really deserve a benching tonight? He seemed to be taking it to the hoop a good amount, I think that's what we want to incentive.

Like I did, Brad thought the pure shooting talent would win out and the starters would just blow opponents out of the water with such great floor spacing. It was a fair belief to have. Time to adjust. Simply isn’t working, and it actually has little to do with whether or not Hayward is right.

They have some serious problems and I’m not sure what the solution is. Last night was fun but it took a monster performance from
Kyrie because they got sloppy and lazy in the third.

Shots didn't fall tonight. Its as simple as that. Either their shots will start to fall or they really do have bigger problems. I am still not concerned. As some of us have said, its too early to panic. And despite their record and whatever people think of that loss to Dallas (who isn't awful this year), Utah is a really good team.

Frankly they haven’t earned the right to coast until late in the season. Fact is we’ve never seen this full team consistently play well together since last preseason. Losing is fine but they aren’t playing good ball, which is far more troubling than the record itself.

I was behind watching this game and besides the general lackluster performance Kyrie passing up a wide open 3 down 13 with 7:00ish to go to pass to Wanamaker was crazy.

yep. The starting unit lets up too many easy baskets at the hoop and they don't dictate play on the offensive end.

They are setting the tone every game. A change is needed

I don’t know man. That’s certainly part of it but I don’t think it’s the whole story. Something feels off to me.

Stevens is a much better x&o coach but his struggles this season make me appreciate what Doc Rivers did during the big 3 era.

Boston went 38.5% from the field tonight and 15.2% from three. If that becomes the norm, you have to be concerned. Otherwise, even the worst team in the league isn't shooting like that on the reg. On to Charlotte.

I wouldn’t trade Stevens for Doc or anything but this team looks like it needs a Thibodeau-level asshole next to Brad.

Manage egos and playing time.
To be fair, he had to manage egos and playing time for three guys. The rest of the team fell into line (even Rondo wouldn't face up KG). This team has a different dynamic. Kyrie is their scorer but its not clear he is their leader. Horford is more of a by-example type of player. Then the rest of the team is Morris, who isn't a leader, Hayward, who isn't performing well enough and hasn't been around enough to lead and a bunch of young guns. IMHO, this roster is far more difficult to manage than the big three Cs. Once Pierce, KG and Allen bought in, it was off to the races.

Well, if it makes anyone feel better, the Lakers were beaten like a gong and Ball went scoreless in 20 minutes.

Currently Brad is coaching like this is a youth team where everyone has to get equal minutes. Shorten the rotation, stop playing lineups that obviously don’t work, always have three scorers on the floor.. let these guys play minutes.. right now guys are constantly coming in cold because the sit for a quarter every time they go out.

I don't disagree that he needs to refine his rotations but I truly think he is still figuring things out. As several of us have pointed out, they had no real pre-season to use to nail things down. He has to figure out roles for Brown and Rozier.

Finally, the C's played great defense again tonight. They need to work on executing actions more on offense. Midrange shots should be forbidden unless they are wide open or the clock is about to expire. Midrange shots should not be your go-to in the NBA in 2018-19.
