Pistons up three on the Raptors in Toronto with 4:00 to go.
I'd also like to see him post up smaller forwards/guards he may get switched on, he can either pass out of those or use his height and length advantage to get a good shot off. Just another way to open the offense and take advantage of his skill set.The offense is an entirely different animal when Tatum makes any of the following decisions:
A) Catch and shoot three
B) Drive on a shorter or slower player with the purpose of getting to the rim
C) Pass the ball if it’s not there
D) If C is not available, “settle” for a three
Is this because they finally made shots?Great game tonight. Outside of a rough first quarter they actually looked like they had a plan on offense and executed it. I think that was the most cohesive they’ve looked all season. The Bulls are a joke but still, we should be beating teams like that by 30. Now we see if they can play the same way against a great team on Friday.
Obviously making shots helps but I thought they made a much more conscious effort to be more aggressive driving into the paint, and I also thought there was a lot less standing around ball watching while someone played in isolation. That and finally no more long twos out of Tatum. Is this because they finally made shots?
It's amazing how much better the Cs look when they hit shots. They shot .441 from 3P and .467 overall.
Just to put this in context, they have only shot over .380 from 3P and .450 from 2P on two occasions. They won both.
To break this down further, they have shot .360 or over from 3P eight times this season. They 5-3 but in their three losses, they shot .404, .432, and .443 overall.
Similarly, they have shot over .450 overall only on three occasions and are 2-1, but in the one loss, they shot .290 from 3P land.
The two games where they shot decently and loss was IND (.432 overall, .413 3P%) and Utah (.443 overall and .395 3P%).
The Cs can win when they don't shoot well but I don't think they will lose much when they shoot over league average from the field and from 3P.
