Last night sucked. Tonight will not suck. After blowing a very winnable game through rookie-level turnovers and getting thoroughly abused on the boards, the Celtics take out their frustrations on Brooklyn by remembering to secure the ball at all times.

7:30 @ Barclay’s Center. WIN.

When Claxton is hitting free throws, the C's are in trouble.

Wow. That Queta chase-down block was impressive. I thought he had lost his man.

Queta's gotta be smarter than that on the fouls. That first foul was pretty dumb.

I know these are not playoff games, but the difference between the way Tatum/Brown drove in the playoffs and how much they do now is night and day. Do we have the fewest drives in the league? Maybe it's just because of the commitment to the 3, but no one seems to respect their drive right now. This is dreadful.

It's troubling that the C's have looked so old in these past two games.

Things turned around when they stopped turning it over. Had something like 4 turnovers in the first 4 minutes (9 points conceded off those turnovers) and none since really.

I don't know if it's lack of effort, or what, but the C's defense is a sieve. Nets are scoring on every possession.

The disparity in the whistle on those back to back possessions...man...

What's the rule on the "officials don't know who the ball went off of and jump it up" with respect to the shot clock? Is it supposed to be reset to 24 regardless of who gets possession?

I'm not sold on the idea of rushing a play to get a 2-for-1 opportunity, but that was just bad offense to end the half.
My impression is that the league has collectively decided 2-for-1s just result in 2 bad possessions.

The third time Cam Johnson poked the ball away, Jaylen might've considered letting someone else handle it.

2 bad possessions for the Celtics usually means two contested off the dribble 3's for tatum, which he hits at about 25%. That means two bad possessions are worth about 1.5 points, quite a bit more than one quality half-court possession (the math is so strongly in favor of two possessions over one that's it's hard to believe they've purposely gone away from it).

No KP, no Horford, and the starting backcourt has just two points so far. Ugh.

I always prefer to try for good shots over rushing to get 2-for-1 opportunities. I get the argument otherwise, but unless you need two possessions (like down by 4 at the end of the fourth quarter), I want to have a good possession and get the best shot possible.

Good argument if your numbers are correct. What's Tatum's shooting percentage shooting contested threes at the end of quarters?

Thinking about this more, if two crap possessions leading to rushed pull-up contested three pointers is more likely to produce more points than one good, well run possession, why don't teams apply this over the course of a whole game and just rush down and jack up the first shot they can get within like 8 seconds, thus seeking to basically double the number of possessions they get in a game? Isn't the math basically the same?

I'm now suddenly very curious about this.

I think the math on 2-for-1 is pretty compelling.

.2 x 3 x 2 = 1.8
.5 x 3 x 1 = 1.5

Shooting 20% on two possessions is still better than shooting 50% on one.
