Vegas was a fun story last year. I was sucked in and jumped on the bandwagon. That was last year though. Time for some humility. Time to teach them a lesson about how hard it is to win in this league year in and year out. Plus they have Max Paciorrety now, screw that guy. Destroy them.

Carol questionable (UBI), Lauzon up on emergency basis. Remember when we had too many defensemen? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Oh, fabulous. I've got Lauzon as tenth on the blue line depth chart.

Go get 'em, kid. Make the most of your 10 to 12 minutes.

I won't get to watch today, because we have hockey tonight. Sunday night games are stupid. My wife is extra sad because Vegas is her favorite team (she only really got into watching hockey when we started playing, so I'm giving her a pass on that).

I will say that one thing I have really liked about the way Cassidy has handled things early, with the only line doing any scoring being the Bergeron line, is that he has shown all season that he trusts all of his other lines to take defensive zone face offs. This has allowed him to use the first line on more offensive draws, which I think is allowing them to get more chances, and they are possibly the best in the league right now at capitalizing on those chances.

Not to beat the horse, but this is something that wouldn't have happened under Julien. And with all the struggles right now, I'm not sure they would be sitting in the 1st Wild Card position right now with someone other than Cassidy. I know it's still early, and things can change drastically either way, but I think that this team has a lot of room for improvement, and so just staying afloat right now makes me pretty confident going forward.

I also liked what I saw from JFK yesterday.

The proper procedure when a group ahead of you has lost their ball/disc in play is to wait, get their attention, and then ask if you can play through.

The group behind us did not wait, did not call fore, and I'm now sporting a hefty welt and missed the first 80% of this game. Some people.

This game has the most tripping calls I’ve ever seen.

1:40 left in a 3 goal game, and JFK made a really good heads-up play in front of the net to clear the puck to the boards. Very limited in options and he recognized that that was the best one instead of trying to play the puck and move it himself. How was he this game otherwise? Have we figured out if he's the 3C option?

JFK wasn't that good tonight. Out attempted 15-3 when he was on the ice. He seems to have games where he basically doesn’t do anything. He was out there, but never really touched the puck. Just sorta skates around and doesn’t do anything impactful. The 3C spot is hardly settled. It was only game 2 though, not time to pull the plug.

It has been 1 good, 1 bad game for JFK. Heinen and Bjork played well and they seem to have some chemistry together.

The 3C spot is such a glaring hole, but they’re winning games. I don’t really see a need to overpay now if the market isn’t good. Barring catastrophic injuries, they won’t need to acquire a winger or defenseman this season. They have one job before the trade deadline.
