Game 4 of the ALCS, lots of sporadic rain in the forecast. The thread title is of course riffing off the famous Kevin Millar statement, because there is zero chance NY is winning this series but maybe they can take a game.

Nestor Cortes vs Lance McCullers, maybe NY can lengthen their season by a day but I'm not holding my breath.

That’s not just being down 3-0, it’s all the Yankee fans that sat through three hours of a rain delay last weekend only yo have the game cancelled.

I miss the Jose Trevino from the first half of the season. The bat has gone soft. But he had a helluva season.

There were a few positives that came out of this season. We don’t want to talk about them because the corpse isn’t in the coffin yet. Nestor Cortes developed into a No. 2 starter. Severino seems back on track as a stud starter. Gerrit Cole did his job for the most part.

The next youth movement is already underway. What we have learned about the current nucleus is they couldn’t beat Houston. Hey, somebody has to finish second!

Yeah if they need a few scapegoat firings, that might be a good place to start.

David Robertson going to try to close out game for Phillies. Love that guy. He worked out with an amateur team in Newport before getting signed. Brought his own gear.

Imagine being one of the final three teams left and having your fan base this furious and disgusted. Someday I’m going to stop caring about team sports entirely although I haven’t managed to get there quite yet.

If there was a rainout and if NY could win a game, it would help them because they could skip Taillon and go back to Severino in game 5 on full rest.

Making the Final Four is a great season. We all want more but 2022 had many fine moments.

Houston would still start McCullers for game 4 if tonight is rained out?

Please don't troll on the Yankees board
I meant no ill will. Yankees fans have nothing to be ashamed of. This might have been a very different series with everyone healthy. They've had a great season, regardless, and they've got good prospects for some years to come. I always feared back in the George days what might happen if the Yankees learned to spend their vast cash resources wisely. I fear this has happened with the sons. It's an excellent model they've got. Concentrate on development, and plug a few holes with free agents. I''m hoping this is this is going to be the Red Sox model. Seems to be. Next couple of years will tell us much.

Heh, that sidearm stuff is not surprising anyone anymore, but worked that time, barely.

Yes, Ron Darling, you can be very aggressive against Jose Ramirez and the Eight Dwarves, but this isn't them.

It's going to be hard to root for them next year if they don't figure out a way to dump him this winter.
Figure out a way? Just DFA him. What's the worst that can happen, the Red Sox pick him up and he has a 730ops?

Of course, they won't do that. They'll slow roll the offseason until all the right players are off the board and then run it back with him at third and Gleyber at 2nd.

It's a lot of money to take a dead hit on, especially when he is still spectacular defensively. Anyway, no need to worry about it today.
