Up 2-1 clicking on all cylinders and got 3 straight very good starts. Would’ve bet anything we win this series. 100% on the offensive collapse.

The Braves are cool. My grandpa was a fan because they were in Boston when he was a kid.
My dad also. I didn’t figure it out until later in life when they finally won in the 90s
Pretty sure we'll get those runs back in the ninth! No, our offensive collapse is shocking.and inexplicable. and reminds me of the '78 collapse when the unstoppable offense suddenly went silent
Good pitching always beats good hitting. And the Astros pitching was great

To go from up 2-1 with Grienke throwing 89mph fastballs with no pen behind him to this is just fucking shocking to me.
Javier basically was the difference maker. It snowballed from there in a bad way for the offense. Total domination by Houston pitching.

I can’t understand it either, but I also can’t understand the last 3rd of the season. It’s like there’s a button that gets pressed and suddenly all of the life comes out of the team. Nobody can expect multiple grand slams every series, but no runs in the last 20+ innings is just bizarre. I’m still proud of them though.

Up 2-1 after absolutely destroying Houston in games 2 and 3. Boston is in an unexpected Red Sox frenzy. Then one run through 19 innings games 4-6. House money ran out. They choked.

Fun season. Far better than I ever expected. Shocking that the offense was only able to score 1 time the last 26 innings of the series. Then again, pretty shocking that they dispatched the Rays in 4 games, so ….

Fun season. Disappointing final three games. Three runs in three games. Hard to win when that happens. Renfroe, X, Devers, JD, Kike, Kyle all terrible in last three games. The pressure clearly got to them.

Baseball is always a game of inches. The inches went our way for the first three games and back to them in the last three games. Makes the game fun and frustrating all at the same time.

The team scored 1 fucking run in their last 25 inning. Coras Midas touch wouldn’t have done fuck. You could have thrown vintage Pedro out there for 3 straight games and it wouldn’t have mattered
and there’s only so many moves you can make with a fatally flawed bullpen and a lousy bench. They were a few players short. The better team clearly won this series, not sure there’s too much to be mad about really.
Just sucks when the season ends, no matter what.
Tomorrow might as well be winter.

The difference of this series was the 2 out runs by Houston and the inability of the Red Sox to drive runners in when it counted.

That being said, that was a heck of a run. Chaim, it’s on you to fix the rotation(healthy Sale and Whitlock?), add multiple high leverage relievers, and upgrade the bench.

Stranded 8 runners in the first 7 innings of that game with chances to extend the lead almost every inning, that's what's going to end up having cost them the series.
Yes! What he said. That and the fact that their hole in the line-up was predictable, and ours were some of our most productive players during the season. Renfroe hit no better than Maldonado, and the Sox production with men in scorin position and with two outs was nonexistent.

Team has a lot of flaws and was lucky to get this far…but man has Cora lost the Midas touch over the last 3 games. Feels like every major move has flopped completely
In 2018 he could do no wrong - every close decision he seemed to choose correctly. This year, there were some that were head-scratchers at the time but looks awful in retrospect. Sale pitching to Alvarez with first open in game 4 comes to mind.

I don’t think it was pressure. They just stopped hitting and the Astros pitched well

Sending Verdugo was a horrible decision. A strike out or fly ball hitter, and Cora trying to stay out of the double play? dumb.

Baseball is fucking stupid and awful and I’ve always stood by this and have never liked it.

Our bullpen sucks. They got fucking clobbered. Every one of them.

Even Whitlock gave up a big home run.

Frustrating way to end it, but this what the team was the second half of the year. Bad pitching and defense and inconsistent hitting. Beating the Yankees, beating the Rays, and getting to game 6 against the Astros is impressive. Even if this feels like shit right now.

The pressure??? Maybe it was the amazing pitching the Astros got? No, it's always got to be about the flaws of our team, never about good play by the other team.

Almost like close decisions are pretty close to coin-flips and by definition even making the "right" decision won't always work out.

Two pennants since being caught cheating. I bet the Astros would do it all over again too. Got a championship out of it and no serious penalties to keep them from contending.
