From the last game of the regular season, through the WC, the ALDS, and the first 3 games of the ALCS, it really was a great trip. Man that was fun .... but they had to come down to earth eventually, I guess .... too bad it was 2 games from getting to the WS

If I could absolutely get away with it and never get caught, I would kill Smoltz right now.

Not really. I don't think I could do it.

I don't think.

Nah, I couldn't.

Probably.

A similar obituary could have been written for the Astros a couple of days ago. Tonight does not predetermine what will happen Friday and Saturday.

You realize the season doesn't end tonight, right?
Still time for more fun and a longer trip.

Let's all try to remember that A.) we still have a shot in this series. And B.) This has been a deeply successful season.

Fuck the Yankees.

Go Braves.

This is easily one of the best starting pitching performances pretty much in the last decade in the playoffs, no?

Friday night in Houston, the expectations for the Sox will be low and the pressure on Houston to close it out will be high. That’s the kind of environment that helped Boston get this far. (That’s the best I got right now, while also hoping it might lead to a comeback tonight)

Fuck this “season is ending” bullshit. We still could win this game with an outburst and even if we don’t, we got Eovaldi in game 6 and all hands on deck for game 7.

Went out to dinner and missed the shitshow. So glad we saved Houck yesterday and pitched Martin Fucking Perez instead. Holy shit.

I keep playing Renfroe.

I don't see a way that they win without him returning to form and he's not going to return to form on the bench. Does it look like snapping out of the funk is likely? Nope. But you just have to hope he gets a lucky hit or catches one and snaps out of it.

Here's the bottom line. There is really no difference between the Red Sox playing and losing one more game this year or the Red Sox playing 9 more games this year and losing 4. Either way they are not going to be champions.

There is no more feel good. That's for when the year is over. At this point there are two possibilities: The Red Sox get 6 more wins before they run out of games to do it, or they don't.

They aren't winning 6 more games if Renfroe doesn't snap out of it. They need him. So he keeps playing.
To draw the analogy to 2004, Mark Bellhorn was having as bad a postseason as humanly possible. .483 OPS. Tito stuck with him and he was kind of important in game 6.

it is true. Sox might have advantage in game 6. But this is a tall order - winning two games at Houston, when Baker has deftly rested his bullpen today ...
