How exactly did he punt last night? By putting in the guy with the best chance to get the out after starting the inning with the guy with the best chance to not give up any runs?

And no, when its tied in the bottom of the 8th you don't need to score right away. When you're losing in the top of the 8th you kind of do.

on no planet is he the guy with the best chance to get an out. He’s a bad pitcher

Looking forward to Cora taking zero accountability for Renfroe's AB and letting Alvarez hit. He'll just say his usual "we liked our guys" and say he feels sorry for them instead of holding anyone, including himself, accountable

He let Vazquez and others bat against Graveman with lefties on the bench. Not sure why his opinion on Graveman changed so much in a few days. If he was saving the LH batters for the next inning when Presley was pitching and the top of the order was up…well.

not a huge deal really but curious imo.

What is it you want him to say or do?

The first baseman dropped a throw. That glove toss by Xander seemed unnecessary. They threw a guy who has grooved 2 outside pitches to left field
Another outside fastball. Not good baseball.
Fundamentals and decision making. Starts and ends with the manager.

Who was a better option against a lefty with extreme splits? He's not at all a bad pitcher against lefties.

The biggest weakness of Cora teams that can be blamed on Cora seems to be fundamentals.

Only way for the Red Sox to beat this team or to do what they did in 2 and 3: chase the starter early with a bunch of runs and they hope you hold on as the bullpen gives up runs late ....

He probably didn't want to replace Renfroe with Santana in a game that looked like it had a good chance to go extra innings. You can argue for replacing Vaz, but he obviously has a different opinion of Vaz than most of this board does and wanted him behind the plate if the game was going to maybe go long.

I will say, I'd be more pessimistic if I knew we were going back to Houston for an elimination game against a truly dominant starter. The Astros' pitching has had some clutch performances the last couple days, but they don't scare me.

The most annoying thing about the Red Sox losing is Joe Castiglione's increasingly whiny, nasally voice every time the Red Sox make an out. Any idea if he has plans to retire? Preferably in the next couple of days?

This team just isnt all that good. We have been spoiled in the past with some real juggernauts. This isnt one of them despite flashing some fools gold occasionally. The defense is atrocious.

eovaldi

Perez has lousy command and the bases were loaded

He’s also just not a good pitcher and Cora threw him into a key moment in a playoff game
