This is where Schwarber's defensive liabilities hurt. It would be great if Dalbec could get into the lineup in Renfroe's place, but there's nowhere to play him.

I think you send Raffy there, honestly. Give him 2 pitches, let him go on the second.

Although we couldn't capitalize, Valdez seemed to struggle with his command when pitching from the stretch.

I wonder what his splits are, windup versus stretch.

Lotta folks in here violating the Foulkey Reese Anti-bunt Decree by arguing in favor of a bunt

Someone with a flashlight in the bleachers, looking for where the Red Sox offense went.

I remember way back in game 1 when everyone wanted Cora fired for pinch hitting for Renfroe with a lefty.

I guess the theory for why not to bunt is that you need more than one run to win this game and the idea is that while a tie game might make us all feel better, you need to get a second run too and that might have been the best opportunity to get that second run. So, let your hitters try to hit.

I tend to agree with that. Run expectancy with first and second and no out is actually better than run expectancy with second and third and one out.

If we can find a way to win this game, we're in decent shape back in Houston. Even if we can't, we're hardly out of it.

But mostly, Sale showing us this — kicking ass against an all-world offense, still no feel for his changeup! — makes me think that the 2022 Sox have a chance to be really good.

We start with a rotation of Sale, Eovaldi, Houck, Pivetta... maybe Whitlock?

We have a bunch of money coming off in 2022 and 2023. We should be able to add a high-end FA or possibly even two.

I’m ok with no bunt. I’m not ok with a shitty at bat by Renfroe. Swinging at that 2-0 pitch was horrible
