Indefensible to use Perez in anything other than a blowout or like the 15th inning

Cora quit on this game
No shit. Once we're behind in the ninth, he's managing for the series, and our principal advantage over Houston is that their pitching is in tatters and ours isn't.

We have three hits. Not nearly enough. Hopefully the toll taken on their staff will carry over.

Sawamura and Perez in one run games lol
I think unfortunately they have zero faith that Sale gives them more than 3 innings. So no Houck for starters. But you got length from your starters the last two games and somehow end up using Perez in a 1-run game.

Perez ever coming into this game under any circumstances is just unforgivable.

Eovaldi already was burned for the inning, at least let him try to finish it off.
Yeah, I don't understand why you pull Nate if you're gonna go to fucking Perez.

Feel free to cuddle up with your "human element" microfiber plush blanket. The worst umpire in MLB fucked this game multiple times. In the age of high-definition TV and real-time data on pitch location, we need robot umps and we need them badly.
I don't disagree with how awful and terrible Laz Diaz has been. One of the worst home plate performances I've ever seen actually.

But it's not his fault that Whitlock got crushed by Altuve. And Eovaldi didn't have to serve it up to Castro after the bad call. I know you're upset (so am I) but I also know you know this.

The call sucked by Diaz but their pen was 1000% better than ours and were put in a much worse situation.

amazing how much 1 game in a series will change your perspective on things. Really have to win tomorrow.

Obviously a shitty call by Diaz, but it was followed up by some really bad pitches that are gonna be drilled by any major leaguer.

Listen, Laz Diaz blows but blaming the umpire for the loss is always such a cop out. This team did not perform tonight. The hitters were fucking horrendous all night in big spots and probably our two best pitchers threw up all over themselves and it cost them the game

Canderson negativity is inversely proportional to positive outcomes so all in all I am feeling pretty good.

Cora will take heat but our two best pitchers coughed up the lead. Pitchers gotta pitch. And our hitters were abysmal tonight to boot. This one is squarely on the players (with a big assist to the dog crap home plate ump).
Exactly - and that goes for staters too. Pivetta going just one more inning could’ve made the difference. I just do not understand the eagerness to pull him when you have such a shaky pen.

I think there’s an over reliance on matchups in the postseason, and with Brantley up Cora is only thinking lefty, and clearly has no confidence in Darwinzon. Good news is he won’t have any confidence in Perez going forward either.

Here
Was it Framber Valdez or Luis García who you thought was better than Sale? Maybe Urquidy?
I agree with this which is why I hated using Nate tonight in another other than a 1 run save situation. Even then, I probably avoid it.

I mean, Nate gave up one hit then struck out the side before the ump took over but sure.

I’m sorry you are unable or unwilling to attribute outcomes to several causes, including shitty officiating.

I have to disagree. This game was given to Houston on a shit no strike call. Everything that comes after that doesn't matter.
But it does matter. Whitlock gave up a blast. Eavoldi let runners on. The ump is an abomination and putting Perez in was dumb. But the Sox could have been up at least a couple more runs, and the ace pitchers could have held the line.
