the very article you sent me says what I said at the top:

"We know the third-time-through-the-order penalty is a real thing. It’s not entirely clear whether it’s a function of hitters becoming more familiar with the starter after seeing him two times or just pitch count creeping up on the pitcher, but either way, by the third time around a pitcher isn’t going to be quite as good as he had been ...."
Ignore the part where it said that a guy throwing a perfect game vs a guy that had allowed 6 baserunners was a whole 7 points of OBP? AKA basically nothing.

anyway ... if Pivetta could have stolen the sixth inning, we might not be here ... Taylor could face the Brantley-Bregman-Alvarez lane now, or in the 8th before ...
Sox are one arm short. We knew it going into the playoffs and with four blown saves in the 8th we know it for sure now.

They have been overcoming it and they just have to find a way.

Three game series now.

Why is Martin Perez even under consideration? Like he is the guy you call in the 13th inning to play out the string.

i did see that, yes ... just hadn't gotten to it yet (when I sent the quote)! interesting stuff. NEVERTHELESS. When you have to potentially resort to Perez in a determinative moment in the ALCS, maybe you stretch your starter ...
