To the shock of everyone, Luis Garcia is over his knee "injury" and will be available in the pen for the Astros

Weirdly confident…. And I never think the Sox can win series , any series. Or even a single game for that matter.
Good EdRo obviously needs to show up. He’s long overdue against the Stros.

Expecting good Erod after last game. Solid 5 innings... but let's face it, the game will come down to the last 2 innings and our relievers anyway.

In the house tonight, bringing my 9 year old son for his first ever Fenway playoff game... let's go.
Walking up the ramp and all of a sudden there's all that green grass and the Monster. What an experience for a kid. Good luck! Oh, first playoff game at the age of 9. Better luck.

JOBU will also be in the house. Next 3 nights actually. So my gamethreading will probably be limited, sporadic and borderline incoherent.

My son was also 9 when he went to his first playoff games in '07 (Manny walkoff HR game as well as game 2 of the WS) and he still remembers everything about going to those. Enjoy it. I'll be in the house the next three nights, one of which will be with my now 23 year old son.

What's the plan for Pivetta? Likely ready for multiple innings tonight if Eddy doesn't, but let's say Eddy does go 4-5 IP, do you save Pivetta for G4?

Also going to be at this one, and I'm pretty sure it's my first ALCS game at Fenway. Possibly my first playoff game at Fenway?! That seems hard to believe, but I'm now not sure if I'm conflating meaningful end-of-season games with the playoffs, and doubting myself... In any case, I have no doubt that it will be loud, and the Sox will win.

Seventeen years ago, David Ortiz gave me the lovely birthday present of two Red Sox wins over the dreaded (then) Yankees. One of them was the end of "yesterday's win," about 1 am or so. They were both way too long for someone of my advanced age. (I do not say it's my birthday to prompt "happy birthday" posts. My husband has already planned a lovely day. It's up to the Sox to do the rest.)
I hope this is a nine-inning game with the home team triumphant.

We don't need a three game winning streak. We just need three one game winning streaks.

Welcome to Game Three of the American League Championship Series. Population: YOU!

Hoping the crowd keeps bringing the noise. Perfect playoff weather tonight. Jealous of all of you who do not live in this god awful State that get to go to one of the next 3 games. LFG!

I'll be near the Sox dugout tonight -- can't wait! First Sox playoff game since Game 6, 1986 ALCS.

Shocked. Surprised. Can't believe he's now available.
If a pitcher is too hurt to continue, should there be a minimum game moratorium which he is unavailable? This situation might have been legit, but it certainly had the appearance of being a bullshit stalling/delay tactic that put our starting pitcher at risk to effectively continue by icing him with a manufactured injury and game delay.

Dusty couldn't make it rain inside Minute Maid but he seeded the clouds of doubt.

On the other hand, Booos to Fox and MLB for starting this game at 8 rather than 7. What sense does that make? So annoying.
This. They have no regard for the sleep patterns of those of us across the Pond. There's a big difference between watching until 3:30am and watching until 4:30am...

edit: and Happy Birthday ItP!

Agree 100% with your moratorium idea.
As for making it rain, I was trying to blame Baker in my mind for the S.F. Earthquake in '89, but he was only the batting coach then. Still, one never knows. . . .

Have you been attending many games throughout the season, then?

(just kidding! Have fun tonight!)

So Sprowl wrote...and this is what he wrote: HIPY PAPY BTHETHDTH THUTHDA BTHUTHDY

Pooh looked on admiringly. "I'm just saying 'A Happy Birthday'," said Sprowl carelessly. "It's a nice long one," said Pooh, very much impressed by it.

He also loved Darren Lewis. This makes him an idiot. I wish the worst for him in both his professional and personal life as I picture him and Jimy Williams hand writing letters to each other talking about Darren Lewis. I hate Darren Lewis.

Living in the EU (GMT+1, so game starts at 2am) I like the later start, since I get up at around 4am most tuesdays anyway, so I can watch the 2nd half during breakfast and on the train...

And most importantly: Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag, ITP!

When they didnt use him in Game 1 to relieve Sale, I had to assume the plan was him starting Game 4

I'd honestly prefer him starting over ERod. But if you're right and the plan is for Pivetta to start G4, I worry that limits Nate pitching in G6 or G7. If Nate can start G4, I'd rather start Pivetta in G5 if he doesn't get used tonight or G4.

IOW, how many "starters" do you really need in a 7 game series?

Walked to Fenway to get an ALCS lapel pin. Walked past Tilt headed for work. Dug deep to say something impactful: “good luck tonight.”

So if he has good luck, you all know who to thank.

Let’s. fucking. Allez.

My first was Tiger Stadium as a kid. THAT moment is unforgettable for a kid. A great experience for the both dad & kid.
