"There's no red for Pickford because the offside cancels serious foul play afterwards. Challenge classed as this. Compare to VVD being through on goal. Pickford would not be sent off for DOGSO if VVD offside. Violent conduct still punishable, not serious foul play."

This seems like a giant hole in the rule book. Pickford should be sent off, and I say this as an Everton fan.

If a player needs to be punished, the rule allows for that. Pickford endangered (and, indeed, injured) an opponent. He needs to be removed under that rule.

Maybe. I don't know. This is how the FA describes violent conduct.

VIOLENT CONDUCT

Violent conduct is when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, or against a team-mate, team official, match official, spectator or any other person, regardless of whether contact is made.

In addition, a player who, when not challenging for the ball, deliberately strikes an opponent or any other person on the head or face with the hand or arm, is guilty of violent conduct unless the force used was negligible.

To be honest I never knew it said "when not challenging the ball". Since Pickford was, it can't be VC. Right?

I missed the “not challenging” part.

If referees don’t have discretion to remove a player from the pitch for doing what Pickford did, the rulebook is broken.

The not raising the flag immediately on offsides bugs me. If play continues a player could get hurt trying to stop something that will be brought back anyhow. It's seems that it has only a downside.

SALAH!

Henderson had a yellow to give and let James run through and spring Digne down the line. Once he's in that position, with no Van Dijk there's nobody to even challenge Calvert-Lewin aerially

What the fuck was any of that? The defending down the line, Robertson on the cross, Adrian’s positioning... What a shitshow

I haven’t seen 90 minutes of James in blue but I’m already done. What an incredible little bitch. Another show of the fake card, stays down for a fake injury for over a minute...
