Giggity.

Is this the day the Coyote finally catches the Road Runner at Goodison?

Which shaky keeper will throw the ball into his own net?

SFiC, you getting up at 4:30 for this one?

I’m torn on Matip. Gomez has been awful, but Matip’s rust has rust and he is nowhere near as pacey. I’d rather have seen Fabinho back there.

Can’t wait to see what Thiago can do.

I predict Richarlison will do many things that make me very, very angry. He’s rapidly becoming the league’s Diego Costa and I can’t stomach that shit.

Yeah, some shitty refereeing there. The rule is supposed to be that the flag stays down if there’s any doubt. There had to be doubt since it was fucking wrong. Pickford is lucky there.

The line drawn by VAR for Van Dijk looked to start to the right of his shoulder... in any event, the one player Liverpool can't afford to lose right now

So if the attaching player is off side he can just be taken out without consequence?

Totally confused here. Because the offside flag is up, Pickford can recklessly take out VVD’s knee?

edit - ha, great minds....

Virgil going off injured like that is the only thing that can take the shine off that start. The critical spine of CB and GK is gone. This is terrifying.

Not going to defend Pickford at all. Reckless, stupid. Pool have every right to be livid. Should be 2-0 and Everton down to 10. I want this fucking clown gone.

The logic, I think, is that since the play is dead there cannot be a foul. Not saying I agree with it, because if there was a punch thrown or whatever there would be consequences.

I don’t think it’s a red. I’m not even convinced it’s a foul, honestly.

I am livid at the refereeing crew for getting every detail of the play wrong.

Yeah he came in with both feet off the ground, in midfield that's an easy red. The VAR check was specifically for a penalty and not violent conduct, I wonder if it has to be a one-or-the-other in the case of a VAR check.

Gomez looks woefully overmatched right now.

Like clockwork, free header for Keane, level

Really? Nowhere near the ball.
He was making himself big, “protecting” himself, etc. it was ugly and I wouldn’t be mad if he was penalized, but keepers are inherently vulnerable in those situations.

There’s the first leak of Van Dijk’s injury. First of many.

Everton with a nice Chelsea impression around Oliver. They’d better be careful since they’ve been gifted a second life by the refereeing crew already.

That’s what Pickford can do- good saves. Because he doesn’t have to thinks.

I’ve seen an angle I missed before. Pickford has to be off. This game is completely wrong right now and it’s down to Oliver and his crew.

I’m up late, just catching up, and livid. Barely two sips of coffee and reading VVD injured. This is a piss eat to start the day.

Gomes Doucoure Allan unit has been poor. They’ve been the engine of our good play so far this season. Everton are Lodi the middle of the park.

"There's no red for Pickford because the offside cancels serious foul play afterwards. Challenge classed as this. Compare to VVD being through on goal. Pickford would not be sent off for DOGSO if VVD offside. Violent conduct still punishable, not serious foul play."

This seems like a giant hole in the rule book. Pickford should be sent off, and I say this as an Everton fan.

So every time someone is offside you can commit serious foul play. As long as you dont go overboard and commit violent conduct you can do some serious damage.

Exactly. Anything short of violent conduct seems fair game as long as the player is offside, which seems like something that the rules need to address.

Yeah, the rule needs to say that if you commit a card worthy offense during a play that is subsequently ruled offside you still get the card, but the other team doesn't get the foul (since the play never really happened)
