In 2007, our school gave a full week Fall break. We went to Hawaii. We picked up the rental car and were driving with the radio on to our hotel when J.D. Drew hit his grand slam. I injured my back and had to stay an extra day to see a doctor while my family flew home. Full of steroids and flexeril, I watched Bobby Kielty and the Red Sox win a championship.

Now fourteen years later we came back for our first vacation in 28 months. We landed on Saturday and the Sox promptly won two walk off games. My seventh and eighth straight Red Sox playoff wins in HI. They have never lost while I have been here, until today. I really thought they would win today. I have never mentioned this stat, mostly to avoid talking about vacations on a Red Sox board but also because I actually kind of believed it was a thing. I mean, not really, but you know, maybe? I mean J.D. hit that fucking home run like a few minutes after we landed.

Fuck. I really thought I was going to go home with them up 2-0. I guess 1-1 will have to do.

Last night reminded me how much I hate so many of these pricks on the Astros. Mow them down today and send this back to Fenway tied.

It’s the same as the Tampa series. Win this and HFA is ours. The majority of the lineup outside of Kike and JD have to get going. Nate needs to shove for 6-7 innings. This series is going to be having both teams take haymakers at one another. Just need to keep swinging at them and playing the game.

I've read this HFA line a lot, but rarely does 1 team beat another evenly matched team 3 in a row.

I’ve always liked being the road team in the ALCS. Feels like a more reasonable task to split 4 games on the road and win 2 of 3 at home vs having to either win 2 of 3 on the road or 3 of 4 at home.

Right Here
We don't need a four game winning streak. We need four one game winning streaks. It starts this afternoon.

Welcome to the 2021 American League Championship Series. Population: YOU!

I like Schwarber getting on base for Hernandez. I think I'd just stick to this 1-2 for the duration.

Here's the ball boy play from last night as described by Lou Merloni, with video. I'm still not sure it hit off the leg of the stool, as he claims. I think the ball was turning in that direction anyway.

But I do agree that the ballboy is positioned improperly to begin with. What's he doing there? As Merloni says, put him further from the field of play so that he can't impact a ball down the line.

Complete garbage. Nasty Nate on the bump, score early and often and take this back to the Fens tied.

it absolutely hits the leg of the stool and appears it would have gone into the corner if not for the stool. The ball boy was positioned incorrectly. He's there to field foul balls, not to be in the way of a fair ball.

It 100% ticked off the stool leg, which made it do a cue shot off the sidewall back toward LF instead of going deeper into the corner. Merloni is entirely correct.

Yup. I don’t understand why there isn’t standard protocol about this. And how is this dude not prepared to react? If he can’t get out of the way, get someone who can move faster than a glacier.

This kind of feels like a must win after dropping a game they really should have won last night. Make it happen.

If the media would investigate, I bet this is somebody like the owner's grandkid who sits on that stool about 5 times/year.

Chances that the ballboy is repositioned for tonight's game seem pretty good.

Yes, of course a Sox pitcher will give up one down the line that we'd want to hit the stool or (preferably) the ballboy. MLB should take care of this without the Sox having to complain.

Lou's rant is amazing. Perfect New England ranting, sounds like he's stuck in traffic on I-93.

"It's bullshit, is what it was! Like, ballboy, can we move him to a different spot? Or, how 'bout DO YOUR JOB! Rather than just lift your right foot, PICK UP THE FRICKIN' STOOL, run into fair territory, and go in and let the ball go down the corner. Unbelievable! Absolutely unbelievable."

How bout DO YOUR JOB! PICK UP THE FRICKIN STOOL! I'm wicked bullshit here!

Which brings up another question - this has happened there before. Why the fuck wasn't that positioning changed from there on out? Infuriating to say the least.
I mean why would you have the ballboy sitting on a stool that would block a ball from going into the LF corner? brutal.
When I saw it live, something didn't seem right and I forgot about it until I saw Merlon's tweet.
