right here
that was a *really* good bunt on a hard pitch to bunt.
and very nice base running by Vaz to go to third on the Shaw ground ball. small thing but he was paying attention and took the opportunity.

Congrats to all of you. Sox really pulled everything together this series (and in WC game). They are absolutely frightening right now. They seem like a really fun, likeable bunch, too. Plus Cora outmanaged Cash.
You're a class act. No Rays hatred from me. It's a great team, and even though it would be bad for the Sox, I wish Sternberg would spend his own damn money and build them a stadium worthy of them.

It’s weird. I didn’t feel like this in 2013 or 2018. Maybe close in 2007. But this really feels closer to those ‘03-‘04 runs in terms of nervous electricity and pure elation when things work.
2013 to me is 2nd best WS run for me because they weren't favored to win Div. and after what happened in 2011, and the Valentine disaster of 2012. That being said this is the most flawed team of all the Sox teams to make the playoffs since 1995 Wild Card Era. Mainly pitching not the least talented of the playoff teams. And I'm loving it.

Rays will be back. Amazing core of the team, and imagine how they'll be when Franco, Arorarena, and McClanahan aren't just rookies.

It's funny. for me 2007 was the year my heart was never pounding, even when they were down 3-1 to Cleveland. Maybe I was still floating on the 2004 high. I was nervous in 2013, and my heart was pounding like a jackhammer with Kimbrel trying to close out the Yankees in Game 4.

But it's a good kind of heart-pounding. :)

Whoever said it was a microcosm of the year was exactly right. Pretty much everything that we have seen that drove us crazy was on display but they just barely overcame it.

Man at second no out with Franco up has to be a run late at Fenway, right? Crazy.

Two blown two run lead hold chances in the 8th inning in back to back nights and the Sox win them both.

Sox have you right where they want you.

Rays fucking turned that game on a dime and the Sox won with a Vaz hit a bunt on a high pitch that we’ve popped up all year, a Rays defensive miscue, and a sac fly. What the actual fuck? Crazy shit.

They remind me more of some of those Giants teams that won the WS. They would play that torture ball style as the fans called it, and then have a lot of unlikely heroes like Renteria or Scutaro.

Model franchise. They have done less with more than any team in U.S. sports. We will see them again.

Did anyone else think this was crushed off the bat? It was actually way more shallow than I guessed. Kind of a lollipop throw and Santana too fast but it was way more shallow than I expected off the bat.
I thought it was gone or at least off the monster. Then I had an “oh shit” moment cause I forgot vaz got lifted for little Danny Santana

As a life long fan, it's incredible what this organization has done since 2004, winning four WS titles, being in the ALCS six times, losing to the Rays in 2008, TBD in 2021.

Baseball is something, whenever I watch games like the two the last two nights, I get really emotional, the roar of the crowd during hits and home runs and key outs and strike outs, thinking about both of my grandfathers and two of my uncles and last but not least, my Dad, all of whom helped me fall in love with baseball.

They are all gone now, but they will always be with me.

The Red Sox are always going to hold a special place in my heart and nights like tonight just prove it.

I know ownership here has taken a beating for the way they handled the Betts situation, I know Cora and Bloom have taken their lumps too, but look where the team is, one step away from playing for another World Series title.

These are not my grandparents Red Sox, they are not my uncles and my Dad's Red Sox, they make key plays, get key hits, get key pitching performances, they have completely flipped the script.

I love this forum and I love the banter that goes on during games, it keeps me grounded and makes me feel great knowing there are hundreds of other fans out there who feel the same way I do about the Boston Red Sox.

I'm happy and grateful to be a member here and I look forward to the happiness, anger, joy and comedy the next series will bring.

And don't forget; we're playing with house money everyone.............................

I absolutely love this post. I also get emotional after games like this knowing this was never the norm in Boston. We are so fortunate. My family was there tonight and I do much wish I lived closer to Boston to experience nights like this. They were there for the 04 ALDS clincher too. I hope the younger generation realizes to appreciate every playoff run because it isn’t easy. Just keep this ride going.

If you zoom in to this picture you can see that the yellow things are really little wrapped candies or something, but at a quick glance it looks like someone showered the Sox with popcorn.

VORP Speed, the Rays are amazing in assembling talent and getting the max out of it. That will not change any time soon.

Great post and I agree completely. This run is helping me manage through some tough times, no matter how it ends I will remember it so damn fondly.

Excellent stuff. Reading this makes me miss my dad's dad who was a HUGE baseball fan (Cincinnati) and absolutely the biggest influence on my love for the sport. One of my dad's brothers is a HUGE baseball fan as well (Yankees), so over the years we've gone back and forth but ultimately we just love this amazing game. I was emotional during the game but that was excitement, but now I just miss my grandfather and wish we could watch one more game together. Here's to our loved ones, present and past, and to all of you here that help make being a Sox fan so much fun!

Fantastic post. Thanks for sharing and yeah so much of this resonates with me too. From the first time my dad took me to Fenway when I was a kid until now when I have teenage kids of my own, there’s something about the Sox that gets me fired up (good and bad) more than any other sport or team.

Had it all the way, onto the ALCS
