Smart left with a left knee contusion though Abby said he was rubbing the right one. I assume Smart is a giant bruise by January

Tatum can be so exasperating. He likes to play around with the ball until there's about 6 seconds left on the shot clock. That sequence with Langford at about 1:40 had me just about screaming.

Such a mess of a possession, bailed out by White's IQ and TL being a freak.

Credit to Richardson and Romeo. They came to play. Get Brogdon in for Al now.

Perk and Scal can team up for the next decade IMHO.

Edit:Or after whenever Gorman retires.

That was close. Fun game. Celtics shot 44% from three including Brogdon 5-6 and Tatum 5-10 and it was still uncomfortably close. Richardson and Langford were solid for San Antonio. Horford’s rebound on Tatum’s free throw miss with a few seconds left was a sneaky good play.

Fun game. Wins all around: Cs get the W; Rob looks amazing; Spurs fight hard till the end and entertain the fans without damaging the Wemby tank.

Scal and Perk of course added to the entertainment value. I learned nothing about the Spurs, since I’m not sure either of them mentioned a Spurs player all game, but I did learn from Perk that Robert Williams is 7’-1”, and from Scal that refs never rewarded bad shots back in his day. :)

I’m concerned Smart is starting to break down and that’s the biggest reason for the fall off on D. Poor guy is 29 going on 70.

Al hasn't wanted to play Center for 5yrs, he's better as a 4

Brad tried to pigeonhole him in there also
It was a mistake then, its a mistake now
...which is fine, if Al could stay with a guy he's face-up against at the elbow and prevent them from getting a layup. Which seems like something he should be able to do. But he's just too damn slow. His awareness is always there, but he gets beat on reaction time and acceleration.

Al on a shorter forward shouldn't need backup to prevent a layup, but he does.

he was scuffling this time last season, he'll be fine guarding guys like Giannis, O'Neil, Dray, etc

Rob needs to be inserted back into the starting lineup. TL makes everyone around him better on D. He completely changes the dynamic of his rotations on several levels

There's nights when Al just loses a step. I don't know what it is -- the normal variance in conditioning and fitness and quickness that comes with the long season, or that he's 36. I think as you get older, obviously the the periods where he looks spry will be shorter, and the periods where he looks like a 36 year-old will become longer.

Totally agree on TL. They need his switchability and activity out there. But I think rather than worrying about who starts, they're trying to close halfs and games with Rob out there. I don't know if there's an official minutes limit, but he hasn't played more than 22 minutes so far, so maybe the calculus is get those minutes in crunch time rather than at the beginning.

Me, too. I'm concerned he's going the Pedroia route. Goes balls out until his early 30's and then the body just starts to break down.

But he's still holding up, so play on Marcus.
