Is NBC Sports just going to plug any blonde, Brit female in this studio seat? Just rotate Ahmed/Burmeister.

Also, it's sad that they keep refusing to take Danny to the fan fests. Very sad two person studio today. Especially when you make Anna Jackson live read a spot for this weekend's fan fest

I've never been a Utd fan, but I think an ascendant ManU is good for the league at the moment - especially in the way they've got rid of the problem kids and become a bit salty. It's a good counterpoint to the wobbles of the three sides that have been best over the past few seasons. Man U looking like they can punch City in the mouth makes things more lively, just as City seem to be losing strength.

Having said that, yeah that's obnoxious - but it's more fun to root against them if they've got some snide about them. I almost didn't know what to do when they had become objects of pity.

They are known for being very direct. What do you want him to say? They are screwed? He’s be saying the same exact thing to his team in the locker room. It’s also the truth. They did beat them earlier in the season without Casemiro.

He also could have complained about the penalty shout going against them but didn’t and said he and his players are to blame, not the refs.

Obnoxious. Please.

yes I see what you mean about being Dutch. I had to spend some time there for work.

but it’s all good, yes? I’m not criticizing him, in case that wasnt clear.

Spurs theoretically should be able to score some goals against this City backline. Getting Bentancur back is big. City feel ripe for the taking here, but Spurs of course are in poor form in their own right.

The Camel City
Have they added an extra tier of ad boards at the Etihad? Looks taller than I remember and it seems more of the fans are standing up. But I easily could have missed that before.

Nice corner routine that sets up a shot by Emerson Royal from 25 yards out. Exactly what you want, I'm sure.

As a Spurs fan I am happy that City put both of their maximally dribbly wingers in rather than any of their more passing-oriented guys. Slows their attack down nicely.

Emerson made a good run getting into position there, and wow, what an instinctual finish. Feels like more sloppy play by City, they failed to clear the longball which started the play.

The degree to which Spurs are City's bogey team is just hilarious.
Since the start of the 2019-20 season, City's league record against everyone else:

P122 W94 D17 L21, GD +219.

City's league record against Spurs (not counting today)

P6 W1 D1 L4, GD -3.

And that doesn't include the CL elimination in 2019, although City did beat Spurs in the 2021 League Cup Final.

Seems like equilibrium might be restored. Each team self destructed for seven minutes, now maybe back to regularly scheduled service.

Bentancur did nothing on that first goal. Just stood there and let Alvarez have all the time in the world to clean up that goal.

I feel awful for the guy. He mentally shattered right in front of our eyes. His career didn’t deserve this coda.

Son not getting a shot out of that was depressing, he lives so deep inside his own head these days.

Thought the same thing, that should have been a real scoring chance and instead was a muddled mess between Son/Emerson/Kulu. It's pretty depressing; the last thing Spurs needed this season would be for Son and Lloris to appear to be cooked, and that has seemingly happened.

Was Son this bad this season before his injury? Is there a psychological component to this?
He's been awful all season, and with Deki and Richy both hurt at various points across the season they've never been able to sit him for a little reset. His head is a complete mess now I think. He might not be forever crocked like Hugo but he desperately needs either to sit for a while or the offseason.

Thought that was the best we have looked in a long long time 1st half and we ended it 0-2 after Ederson went full lobotomy

Scored more 2nd half but while not perfect there was way more attacking intent and very little of the dreaded umbrella so even if the result hadn’t flipped I’d have been optimistic. If that ref heist against United forced City to really think about things and start to turn it around it may even be worth Zomp having a 4 hour visit the hospital “situation” the other day
