To Mort

Not likely, We both gave up competitive skating around 2009-10. I don't think either of us played a Crested Butte team. My Bride and I did win a couple RMHL Championships together. Her face was priceless when we told her we were going to Shotgun Willies.
got ya. I miss the Colorado hockey community, hell Colorado in general haha

I think that is the third time COL has gotten a free shot at net off the face off this period. I hope Butch and Co are alerted.

edit: Damn

Going in with two unproven guys in Vladar and Swayman would’ve been dumber given this team is in GFIN mode IMO.
Agreed. There were options other than two years of $5M NMC (I know the NMC goes away) Ullmark and Vladar, though (e.g., a Halak type, if not Halak). And pre-committing to bringing back an older goalie coming off of hip surgery in the middle of the season with little warm up game action is a choice, too.

$5M for the guy who made be your third best goalie come playoff time, $3.8M a year for Foglino, eventually, we’re talking about real money. :)

When it comes to scarce resources, this team just loves middling redundancies.

How the fuck do you not have the best player on your team out there to start 3-3 OT?

Hard to be all that bummed about that loss even with the late collapse. The avs are the best team in hockey on their hottest streak ever playing at home and the Bruins actually outplayed them by a fair margin until the flurry in the 3rd. Some uncharacteristic stuff in the third. I think they were just gassed. Oh well. Glad they got a point in a game where I thought the conditions going in were going to serve them up a blowout loss.

The top line and Coyle's line were awesome at five on five. The other two...big yikes. The fourth line gave up 10SA and only had 1 of their own. I'm also becoming concerned about the second line. This is their last 5 games by xG%

Avs - 16.8%
Ducks - 11.7%
Jets - 42.2%
Caps - 51.3% YAY (feels alot worse when the other lines were 75.7%, 76% and 95.5%)
Canes - 63.5% (this is funny)

They are now slightly underwater overall at 49.51% since they've been put together. Once Pastrnak's 80 goal pace in January slows down, I think this line is in trouble.

I think the simple truth is that Haula is not a 2C. Not sure what can be done about that outside of a trade. Hall and Pastrnak definitely should be kept together though:

Hall+Pastrnak With Haula: 49.5% xGF
Hall+Pastrnak Without Haula: 67.8% xGF

DeBrusk-Coyle-Steen have serious chemistry right now, so breaking them up by promoting Coyle doesn't seem like a good idea.
