They have a chance in this one, just have to see if they can get into it physically and catch a second wind. Very clearly feeling the B2B with a long flight.

They got up hard for it and focused really hard through those quarters. If you don't think that takes significant energy, I'm not sure what to say.
I'm sure they were up for it, but no starter played more than 25 minutes and no player played over 29. In terms of being ready for the 2nd night of a B2B they came into tonight about as rested as you can be.

Great, a lob and more volleyball moves from Theis.

It was nice to see Tatum push the ball up the court though. That's what they were doing all night last night.

I mean, what can I say...they're clearly fatigued. I think the length of the flight is underrated--Miami is actually a bit of a haul for a b2b.

And as Grande explained on the radio broadcast, they started this game earlier to accommodate TNT for the second game in the doubleheader.

Are you allowed to just, like, block the defender out of the way like it’s football? ‘Cause that’s what happened to Tatum.

I think the travel stuff is more often a convenient excuse for shitty play, than it is the reason for shitty play. These guys are almost all in their early to mid 20's, in peak physical condition. So, they had to sit on a private charter flight with their legs kicked it up for four hours, probably sleeping, check into a four star hotel, and then sleep until noon, and then what? Loung around until heading to the stadium around 5:00 p.m.?

I don't know, I'm not sure where the giant energy suck is in that schedule. If they had come off a game last night where they all played 35 minutes and had to grind it out to the end, then I'd have a bit more sympathy, but most of them barely broke a sweat last night.

They'll win this one going away once Brad lays into them at halftime. At least, that's what they would have done last year.

So a night after he said he wouldn’t need to score 30 again until the playoffs... Kyrie is trying to score 30?

This is a fucking joke. Not one fucking free throw in the 1st half. Miami only has 2 themselves, but jesus...

This one is not going well....

For those who don't buy the B2B issues, there is plenty of evidence that teams on the back end struggle. I posted an article in the Port Cellar a few years ago and will try to find it again. And it does not seem to matter that teams fly private or did or did not traverse time zones. Its a real thing.

Back to selfish, one-on-one basketball, settling for long jumpers and not moving without the ball. Well-deserved thrashing.

I definitely think that the B2B has a significant amount to do with their play but I was really hoping the Jekyll and Hyde act of good ball movement vs. ISO was behind them. They have to execute the game plan better.

Each team only has 3 TO. Boston with 7 assists, Miami with 18. The Heat have 10 more rebounds but have taken the same amount of shots.

Agreed. I don't care how you travel. It affects the body the same way as anyone else flying coach on Southwest.

Nobody but Brown played more than 25 minutes last night and they're coming off a long home stand, they should be rested. The b2b excuse is bullshit. Play better.
